Yes, Fingerprint scanner will definitely going to prevent terrorism, only thing is when this entire system is being well managed by some centralized server, or some system is there where background checks can happen with the database of terrorist in police records or for that matter it should sync with hospitals aswell. by putting little bit of ideas we can get advantage by fingerprint scanner.

I actually don't fully support it. But yes, we must use as much measures to curb it at the entry level. Ensuring that we are well aware about the right for security for our nation.

I am a Civil Engineer with LLB and has quite good interst in such topics. I feel that the people need to be taught about the relief the can get from the cybre crimes the provisions in the cyber crime laws and procedure to approach for the relief. Punishmenet should also be indiacated to all the viewers. The proposal of finger prints will reduce the crime drastically.

well all things have their good and bad sides...but if we see its good side then we can atleast reduce the rate of the cyber crime because uptill now people give their fake information.this technique will be helpful in the context

I really don't know if there are resources to follow it up, but if done right it'll atleast stop cyber cafe's being used for terror and other illegal activities. Just the presence of the scanner and the mandatory rule that everyone get fingerprinted will be a detterant in itself. Now there is a serous drive in Delhi, on the identification front and before the 2010 Games everyone in Delhi will be on data center, with details. The project is being handled by the Delhi State Spatial Data Bank and the Delhi Police. Hopefully the excercise will be soon carried out in other states too.

Look,if you say nothing is good, then we will never come out of terrorism. This is a step taken for the safety of the people,so why we will not support it.Instead we are commenting that it will work or not.Let it starts.Something is always good then nothing.

.The plan to introduce finger print scanner is good as it will help to enhance security and prevent misuse of cyber cafe for commiting crimes.

I don't think it is possible. First of all it is not realistic. Like other countries, We don't have any common identity card or some unique identity. Capturing Fingerprints when the cafe had a new visitor is not easy. Because that visitor will not have a unique id number. If you keep on registering fingerprints on every visit to cafe is not realistic as the fingerprint scanners itself has the limitation in terms of storage. If I'm not wrong maximum of 3000 to 5000 fingerprints can be stored in a stand-alone fingerprint machine. In case if the government has a common fingerprint database with a unique id for each citizen, and also Government should share the fingerprint database. Then Cafes can use Remote Identification Servers for authentications. KOREA is the first country in the world implementing a fingerprint passport for their citizens. Let us hope we too move ahead with the technology.

Too much potential for abuse. Today maybe they seek out only people who are planning violence. Tomorrow maybe they start looking for you if you support the wrong political party or to make private details of your lifestyle public.

I dont think its gonna be that much fruitful coz the person who is using the internet can be traced by the available sources as well and in most of the cases he/she's generally tranced if attempted honestly. So its more troublesome and the outcome is not proportionate.

I am not very much convinced by this idea, I would have appreciated if govt has taken the step of noting down Unique Identity sort of something or already in many a cafe we have to provide our identification info and then we are getting access of Net, although to implement fingerprint sort of feature in the country like India will take huge investment plan and how effectively we will be able to implement that can't say and there are many other priorities govt is having from investment point of view. And just by implementing this for cyber cafe cannot stop or control the crime today Internet is reachable to each and every individual's hand. This will be a big hurdle too.

It might prevent. But fingerprint scan on all cyber cafes - reminds me of a sci-fi movie where people had bar codes on their hand - is not much feasible. The implenmentation of finger print scanners has to be done on a global basis. people keep migrating in and out of a country. How to maintain the identity of each person. For that matter, everyone in this globe should have their fingerprints in a common database - which again is not at all easy to create and to maintain. Now do you think the terrorist cannot fake someone's identity by having a duplicate of their fingerprint?? this will pose another threat to the innocent people, whise fingerprints will be faked. I really do not think it can work. but it can be coupled with some other mechanism to identify the identity of a person.
