First of all this is a topic that is debatable from facts of History. Our text books are doctored from school days onwards. We are taught that Emperor Alexander attacked India and Renjith Singh the then ruler of Punjab defeated him and sent him back. The fact is if one read reliable Greek History one finds that Alexander truely defeated Indian rulers than and had control over India then. He then handed over the Indian kingdom to his Generals and left. Some of them intermarried the Indians. Then a person called Kautalya helped Chandragupta to gain ruling power in India and he presented Alexander with 864 war elephents to buy India back from the Great Alexander. Historians of those days has writen so many things Alexander found prevelent in our society which we are never taught in classes. One is why Alexander left India alone after conquering it. It seems he told someone who asked him why he left India he stated 'Indians are basicaly inefficient'. This coming from a KIng whose war strategies like 'side way attacks' are still taught in military schools world over which cannot be replaced by other strategies. He also found that there was something called 'sati' going on here the reason for it's existence he found that Indian wives had a habit of killing their Husbands after marriage and this sati right in which the wife jumps into the funeral pyre of the husband was created so that a wife if she poisons her husband cannot live after that and so won't plan of killing the husband. So talking about our culture we are an inefficient nation which is our geneticaly transmited state as per history and truth. Now coming to the mental multiplication issue 1) there are moer pressing problems of modern nature the government is required to look into. 2) even if they pursue that then one has to ascertain whether the mental multiplication method the American invented and the Indian one is one and the same. I feel one should give priorities to what is important than dwell on some inefficient past so that our present won't be wasted away in unnecessary and meaningless ranglings.

Our politicians, with rare exceptions, have only one objective in dealing with any department of personal and national life. That is, they would examine anything to find out if there is any possibility of creating controversy or trouble in that department. Whether it is culture or education or religion or defense, - their only concern is if they could link it to anything and create a conflict based on caste, religion, region, language and so on. If there is no possibility of conflict in it, it is useless for them. Their intention is that the people should be fully engaged in anyone or other emotional conflicts, so that they can carry on their unholy schemes without any fear. Based on culture, enough conflicts have already been created; Brahmans vs. non-Brahmans, South India vs. north India, Malayalees vs. others, Hindus vs. Muslims, the list is endless. The intention is not preservation but creation of conflict. This is how they make their shameful living. Do we hear any powerful leader talking in terms of Nation, national unity, national prestige and so on. Gradually the number of leaders, who have national level recognition is dwindling. The people are not encouraged and inspired to think as belonging to one nation called India. Even in this, they would develop problem if it should be called Bharat or India. It is a folly to associate our government and its leaders with sincere appreciation and preservation of Indian culture. Thanks to some dedicated personal efforts, we are able to talk about it.

Have you ever come across any incident where India has attacked any country ??India has always been non-aggressive peaceful nation; a defender at best. It lacks the killing instinct. But why shouldn't it be different in modern times, as it was in ancient world ? An intellectual leader among nations; a proponent of peace and non-violence. Any unlawful patent can be challenged, if one has enough proof. A patent office doesn't have the mechanism to verify claims of intellectual rights. They only go for publication of no-objection matter in their gazette. A claimant residing in another country can claim anything, however bizarre it may appear. Even though its true that the government is not pro-active, it only means it does not take action suo-moto.But sooner or later, when evidence collect, the truth emerges.

I think Indian government is not doing enough to protect us from misuse of our rich heritage. We only wake up when we fell threatened. Today we are threatened that Clay who after 10 years can sue is because he has a copyright and can also ask for royaltyies from us for teaching students his method. The same lineancy was seen in the case when Indain method of Yoga was tried to get patented by a foreign Institute as their own way of Yoga and tried to steal one of the rich cultural heritage of India i.e. "Yoga". Why dont the Indian government react first before getting attacked by the outsiders. As we say Prevention is better than Cure, so why dont they adopt this policy and save our rich heritage. Not only in the case of saving heritage the same policy should be adopted against the terrorism also, as there is no benefit once the terrorist have attacked your country. So prevent your country and heritage before it gets attacked by the outsiders than be it terrorist or the intellectual terrorist like Clay.

First of all, Darshil, I want to thank you for initiating such a nice topic but I think by mistake you have posted your comment on wrong side. Secondly about Indian Government whether is protecting our culture or not, my reply is, No...not a bit...The thing is not only about Yoga but each and every thing. We have been deprived of our rich cultural Vedic past. Whenever somebody tries to revive, he is suppressed and declared communal. Our history has been given the name "MYTH" and our history has been modified. Our rich books like Bhagwadgita were never introduced to educational institutes from government side in the name of secular country rather our cultural heritage like Ram setu are becoming victim. There is no scope for Vedic civilisation to flourish again whereas the foreign cultures are getting government support to flourish.....
