A person who has completed PMP will certainly be aware of all the proceses. It will also be easier for him to identify all the risk and initiate mitigtive action. He can think more rationally and is able to cover all the areas.

PMP as such does not make anybody a better project manager but if a person has passed PMP, it means that he/she is comfortable with the fundamentals of project management. The employer hiring a PMP certified can be sure that certificate holder has a minimum knowledge in project management.

That could be a yes and a no. It does give you the skills that you need to help with better management of projects. PMP program will provide the fundamentals in managing projects.

But it’s all in a persons’ own knowledge and abilities that really help. It really all depends on how well a person applies his PMP knowledge & skills.

Though it is just a certification, still useful to manage the project as it gives you how to deal @ different stages/phases of the project.
