Recruitng two persons with 10 years and 05 years of esperience for the same profile of job is bad strategy. And comparing their perfomance will spill bad blood. The person with more experience will definitely deserve more salary and bad performance will show him or her a door for exit.Ultimately preformance counts in the job market.

yes.salary should be based on the effort applied to a job .if experience alone is considered an upcomer in the field cannot exist.the more u put an effort on the job the more u will be nearer to the end point of success & hence salary should be based on the work we do.

Yes it must be.. The more we work the more salary we can decide for our future. We can say high efficiency of doing a work is directly proportional to hike in salary structure

Konica Most people would not agree to this point that salary be paid in line with experience and not with the aptitude and ability.I would like to mention that if you look out for a change in job,the first thing that is being asked is the experience you have and that too relevant experience. If you are working in the same organisation for long, then ability and aptitude do play a role. However now a days people tend to shift across orgns, hence experience come into picture.

Having a business aptitude, and having experience are two different things. Many people with better insights can risk higher losses, and take bigger responsibilities, just by virtue of their, performance instinct. Yes, but there is some minimum time of experience required to generate the confidence of perfomance... That, I believe was the reason behined the concept of probation/training/assessment period. On the contrary, I believe a person who has worked 10 long years serving at a middle level position, is so handy with the profile, that his efficiency might rather go down on any appraisals. If a person has been in Apparel Production as Production manager for 10 long years, On being Promoted, chances of his being efficient in Marketing and Financial aspect of the firm are less, also his Production related crave might also deshape the entire management orientation. That is where a person with a broader insight and more entrepreneurial attitude comes in, who knows most of the functions, is keen to know the rest and loves to take Responsibilities, and is not Accustomed to working in only one fixture in a company. Experience counts, but no more than intellect. :)
