Of course it is. Talents are usually considered "queer" so few people like and support them. If it will comfort you I would say the phenomenon is not a peculiarity of India.

It may be partially true in private organisations but almost true in government offices and organisations (even in semi government organisations and PSUs also). Most of the talent in India is wasted at the beginning and growing stage and finally at later stages. Some of the reasons are; lack of proper platform and encouragement, politics, bureaucracy, no-commitment, lobby culture and lack of diligence in senior level.

I think, talents never get properly developed in here due to lack of proper 'environmental planing'. Environment is not just trees and ecology, it is also the economic environment, where a child who can utilize and improve his talents and also seek where he needs to develope only if he see incentives visible in rational choices. First of all rational choice making is not in the purvey of our present culture. Our country used to be a Monarchy which later on turned into a democracy, and they are still strugling with this concept.

In India, generally, a person starts thinking and acting when his retirement is round the corner. That is the time, he gets free from educating, employing and getting his children married, and feeling relaxed. Then the pressure of dis-allowing him to work happens by retiring him. When his wisdom is at high ebb, he is made to undergo a very passive role. That's how his talent and wisdom go waste! He should be given extra freedom to organise things, make him participate on a regular basis in schemes of Corporate Social Responsibility, guiding the employees to get empowered in future, etc. should be formally organised, so that they don't feel they are let down!

This happens because of the lack of exposure or right means of establishment. We have capacity to do different things but we restrictĀ ourselves in various forms and the talent dies undecteted. The talent is not explored. A proper talent management can do good here.
Talent management : The skills of attracting highly skilled workers, of integrating new workers, and developing and retaining current workers to meet current and future business objectives.

Talents will never be wasted on way or the other it will be shown to the world but it depends on the individual's attitude and support provided by others.

No, its not at all so. I remember having an argument with a buddy about having wasted Manjrekar over Dravid. He disliked Dravid and I thought otherwise. Manjrekar, Kambli or maninder singh were sensations but did not last long. We never wasted them, they got their share of opportunities. We have a big pool of talent and it thus demands a high level of attitude. Every player we have in the team is a better person then the person who got left out. Recent example to my argument is Yuvraj Singh. His maturity and attitude has only showed us how to fight back in life.
