Didn't you observe all around us effect us in any manner. all the things whether living or not have certain bounding. if you go deep you will agree all the things are made up of atoms either living or non living things. Then why one composition is living while other is non-living. The things effect each other. for example you can produce a magnetic effect in the metal by pressing it with weight. you feel that a person is good for you while other is not. Why? because there are some mutual understanding between the two. there are some kind of effect either positive or negative they are implementing on each other. if that can be in the case of ourselves then why moon can't effect the things. it can but the whole thing is beyond this discussion...

Sulagna....see... the gravitational forces are at peak between Moon and Earth and Earth and sun during eclipse and when a child is born, he is mentally retarded so also called as Lunatic....as the forces increases the vibrancy of little child delicate Brain resulting in distortion and High tides are observed.. So somewhere I believe that it is the impact Of Supermoon as Christ Church got quacked, then China in more intensity and then it totally Devastated Japan as supermoon is coming nearby...if something goes more worst, then i will be cent percent assure about it....

Hey Swati, I am not expert on such issues but lot of discussion is going on this issue , purely , based on belief. You can watch ABC News,(click for link) NASA experts opinion, & many others. Now, to your query regarding the gravitational pull. As I know, the FORCE (F)= Gravit force x mass of 1st object x mass of 2nd objectx distance squared F= G x M1 x M2 x R x R You can see, the only variable in the above equation is the the distance between the 2 bodies. For example, Moon & Earth. When it comes closer to earth means(super moon) distance reduces and so , force also reduce.( So as say ,a body falling from 10 th floor will have more effect than the body from the first floor). Same comes here, the force between the moon(super) & earth reduces & have less effect than on other occasion. ie the pull effect will be less so does, go on tidal waves. This is not the first occurrence. Many have happened earlier. This may be the fifth one.
For more explanation, pl read NASA discussion on this issue.

Hi Swati, There is no relation between the moon position and the current havoc in japan and china. Its a pure co-incidecne. According to the scientists moon's impact on earth is limitedonly to high and low tides and nothing more. Moreover supermoon will be on 19th march and these calamities have struck japans and newzealands much before. And scientists say there would be much difference between the current position of the moon and that on 19th. So i dont think we should relate supermoon with these calamities.

Sulagna i think the the earth plates down there is responsible for earthquake and the result is Tsunami since the rechiter scale was greater than 8Â

No. Scientist in the relevant field denied it. It is an usual occurence. Sun is at 5 lac odd miles away & moon is 3.5 odd lac miles away. When moon come closer in the orbit(Mar 21/22) it does look like that. It has no bearing on these Tsunamies

I see a supermoon rising, but do I see trouble on the way? A/C to NASA: The effects on Earth from a supermoon are minor, and according to the most detailed studies by terrestrial seismologists and volcanologists, the combination of the moon being at its closest to Earth in its orbit, and being in its 'full moon' configuration (relative to the Earth and sun), should not affect the internal energy balance of the Earth since there are lunar tides every day. The Earth has stored a tremendous amount of internal energy within its thin outer shell or crust, and the small differences in the tidal forces exerted by the moon (and sun) are not enough to fundamentally overcome the much larger forces within the planet due to convection (and other aspects of the internal energy balance that drives plate tectonics). But see this blog , he has posted some disasters b4 japan tsunami... http://www.indiaatnet.com/news/supermoon-may-cause-natural-disasters-next-week/
