Telecom industry is very vast, you cannot imagine how much revolution is pending in this field. We reach only about 4G, lots of persons are required in this field every year while software field is going more compact due to latest technology for example Cloud Computing, readiness software facilities, manpower require here is very less as compared to telecom sector. Indian govt. in a moment got more than 100000 Crores only as licence fee for only one service 3G. Now imagine if for only one service this is only income of the govt. consider all services earning of govt. and operator is much higher, definitely more manpower are employed directly or indirectly. Todays huge revenue of software company is coming from telecom sector only.

telecom would be a leading indrustry in india ..the launch of 3g spectrum wil enchance it , n d introduction of bwa n 4g wifi would largely affecting telecom. it was reported when russia launched it bwa(broadband wifi access) and mobile 4g services while still using 3g gsm services they reported 40000 customers in 6months though those were expensive services n in india only 10% of our population is using telecom for communication rest r stil to be connected i hope india till 2013 telecom sector of india would be competeting worldwide

Commenting on telecom ...,as far as tarrifs are concerned in 3G seen they are surely to go up, whereas the trends of subscriber base of our country is a big confusion at this point of time where lot of instability among the Telecom players is seen owing to Governing bodies. Briefly this is a situation where entire game plays will have altogether different outlook.... all we can do is just keep predicting at this point of time.,,,, It’s, Telecom, Insurance all are fragile areas with lot of factors governing them.

I also agree ,The Indian Telecom industry expects to continue with its fast pace of subscriber additions in 2010, at least 11 million per month, launch of 3G and WiMAX spectrum, while tariff would continue to slide during the year.So career opportunity in Telecom sector will be more as compared to IT field.

We have gone through the recession period and seen what was happened with IT/Software firms ex- cost cutting, labour cutting etc.... , but data reveals the only sector which stand upright was telecom sector and now its a blooming sector attracting all major business groups also offering new career opportunities.

i totally agree with Mr Surya Prakash because whtever the growth of telecom sector is, it is ultimately an outcome of IT/Software sector. because telcome sector cannot work without technology.

Couple of posts in support to NO are quite considerable. Though Telecom is very fast growing, Dynamic sector/domain and carries many opportunity along with but one should not forget that ultimately this also comprises of many components out of those IT services/software/hardware plays very big role to take it to this position. also IT/software deals with many other sectors and pure IT as well. which will always distinguish IT/software among other as a top contributor in the market

As far as revenues are concerned, IT at this point of time is surely in a better preposition......, Telecom will be in a trembling situation for some more times, year after it will start looking through some stability phase, also that with its scope getting wider ( with data business & much more on the way....,) not to forget cost effective technologies in exploring the revenues will have a good prospect but unlike Russia, china or western countries the business penetration levels are still not promising putting lot of challenges. On the contrary IT is an international market & India has promising professionals in count & quality.
