Some of the findings: 19% of employees “rarely” trust their managers to make the best decisions As many as 57% say they “occasionally” trust their managers. 31% of senior executives (C-level and VP) “always” trust managers’ decisions compared to only 22% of non-management employees. Employees at smaller companies are more likely to trust their managers’ decisions (26% reporting “always”) compared to those at larger firms (only 20% reporting “always”). 27% of workers aged 55+ “rarely” trust managers to make the best decisions, versus 15% of 18-24 year-olds. Most often than not, the Managers, if they are team players, take decision best suited to the composition of the team, however, tough they seem to be externally, but they do everything to safeguard the interest of the team, which are very subtle and not understood by many!

I agree with Jyoti. Most of them think that they are super power and they can do whatever they want. Some of them are not really supporting the team members when they do something wrong. Hope this would change slowly in future and they would mature enough to support teams.

Unless there is a specific reason as a consequence of lack of experience in a particular situation or field, a superior must trust his subordinate for thaking a right decision.Management decisions are not similar to the battle zone or flying emergencies where split second responses are essential. Invariably, organisational structures are defined in such a manner that jurisdiction of the manager or the level upto which he or she can exercise discretion is clearly stated.Which means that the manager is not expected to exceed his or her brief and is held accountable upto that level of decision making.I believe that unless a person is a gross nincompoop, he would take a right decision within his ability.I always encourage my managers (five of them) to take independent decisions and being their superior, assume responsibility if one odd turns out to be not so appropriate. Thanks for the invite and warm regards.
