In India most of the Hospitals have policies that only targets its medical staff and thereby neglecting other areas of manpower.

Almost every hospital has discriminative remuneration policy which cannot be justified as per the laws of natural justice, such practices are more prevalent in indian region.

Are such doctor centric policies are good for healthcare or there is no other option.

Difficult for me toanswer this. But if I look at it from a Hospitality perspective, then the HR at the Hospitals per se have a very difficult job at hand!! Not only are they required to find the best in profession to recruit because a life is at  stake, at the same time they need a Hotel experienced person to lend that touch of being personal to the people who hold their breaths for the near and dear ones.

Its not a very easy job and if the policies are "doctor centric', I personally do not find that to be objectionable at all. Doctors are the ones who essentially are responsible to make a person better than when he is admitted in the hospital.

Thanks for the referral Dr. Ahmad

Mr Prem Prakash,

Most of the Hospitals in India are run under the impression that it is just the Medical Staff in fact Doctors are the main people running the hospital. In one way this idea holds truth, but just like any other organization a hospital is run by a team. Due to any kind of formal education or course  for a variety of posts filled up by the other staff members they are usually less thought about at the HR level.

I do feel that such policies are adopted by almost all hospitals especially in private sector.

very relevant debate...

i dont think so.....the HR policies are 'money-centric'!!!

it does not support the doctors or the ancillary staff

the nursing staff  and junior doctors in pvt hospitals are recruited at below industry standard salaries and are expected to perform their best  for us.

exceptionally the top few BIG names have a say with regards to their 'package' but that too depends on who performs best for the hospital
