Thanks for initiating a wonderful debate Mr.Ratnakar. In my opinion it is much effective than the conventional treatment. Alternative medicines can cure most diseases in a long run. Alternative medicines wont give us a result in the early stages like the conventional medicines, but if u do the treatment properly and accordingly, then surely the treatment will be effective. But the fact is that the treatment is bit expensive.

I dont think that alternative medicines can be compared to conventional medicines. For the treatment of few diseases we can use alternative medicines effectively but most common diseases are cured using conventional medicines. And evn the conventional treatment is much cheaper than alternative therapy. It works well for some disease but not all.

What do you consider as an alternative medicine, and why ? Why people consider allopathy as mainstream treatment. Just because it is renowned in foreign countries. India itself has a history of great works and innovations that too far more earlier than allopathy. Ayurveda is an ancient medicine. It has not been researched more for its benefits as compared to allopathy. Just because the benefits Ayurvedic drugs are not known widespread it has not propagated in the way it should be. It works definitely but hated by Allopathic practitioners.

People shift to Alternate medicines when conventional medicines doesn't work. Conventional Medicines are a must for emergency & immediate cure & relief. Alternate medicines (Homeopath) definitely works as I am regular user of it for all common ailments and also infections. I have found homeopath doing wonders where conventional treatments for my family didn't work, even after the consultation & treatment from specialists. They are 200% cheaper than conventional medicines.

If the conventional medicine does not work than people will definitly go for alternative medicines. It all depends on the doctor who treats with conventional medicine, if the doctor does not prescribe appropriate medicine than the disease will not get cured so naturally people will think of alternate medicines.

As alternative medicines can cure certain limited diseases of the total modern-day ailments, naturally low economy-of-scales make them more expensive when compared with the Allopathic medicines which have wider markets and hence greater economy-of-scales.

Still for those certain diseases alternative medicines like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Acupunture, Acu-preassure, etc. do have a very vital role in the treatment of human diseases.
