Yes....the world economy is slowly bouncing back from the dark days of recession and so is the attrition rate. Employees wish to free up themselves in this period wanting to escape the frustration caused by the economic downturn and look at the various offers they have at hand. It is here the flexible work models emerge as a powerful tool to attract and retain top talent. Flex jobs can be defined as jobs that allow employees to contribute their skills outside the standard workweek.

Though the flexible work hours is being talked and tried, many companies have not succeeded in implementing it effectively. This flexible work hour models is not able to give the required results expected by the organizations in the challenging working environment.Further, to be successful, the companies should first design the set of flexible programs to meet specific employees needs. But on the contrary the employees will anticipate something different since the flex job model may not suit as desired by the employees. In such case, the employees are required to make groups who may opt their preferences individually.Besides, there is no evidence that these models work well and are supported by management. The opportunities for promotional prospects for the employees who have chosen the flex job model can not be assured by the companies and it would be very difficult to convince the employees who have doubts on these models.Moreover. the main disadvantages of this model are lack of interaction among employees & interpersonal relationships, even the department heads will not be in a position to know who is his team player or staff and will not be able to recognize their faces and personality. Thanks for the referral Mr.Alex Fernandes.

Gradually , it is my experience that youngesters particularly they don't like control of someone , even TIME . The performance should be adjudged based on achievement of milestones within stipulated time . Thus flexi working may contribute in productivity , but it would depend largely on type of work .

i agree with Alex, but this is a German concept where unions are associated and employees roster as per their convenience is mapped up.but i think flexi timings could suit only IT or IT enabled services.

Flexible working hours can help to contain attrition to a certain extent as the employee is not glued to his desk for 8-10 hours a day

NO. If a chap wants to leave, he will anyway. Flexible hours may INCREASE attrition as some of the "officially useful" normal working hours can be spent in job hunting, interviews etc.

That could be a yes and a no. To some extent it could. There are a number of factors that create attrition and a number of factors that could reduce it.

Flexible work hours could help to reduce attrition but it may not completely stop it. Many times it depends on the quality and type of work and workers.

Depending on the company, workers, type of work and others things, there’s a lot that can be said and done about this.

Many times it all begins with strategizing and planning. Especially strategic planning and strategic management.

Just flexible hours I really dont think so that it will cut down on attrition, fat pay check, work from home option and whole lot of other perks, when the economy is doing good and when the spending power is more people want all the stuff with them and co's are providing such things to attract that limited quality talent which is out there. Just flexible work hours will not fit into todays employees scheme of things.
