Google damages the brains of its users by offering too much assistance in solving problems. Search engines’ function of providing us with information almost instantly means people are losing their intellectual capacity to store information.

So, is Google really damaging our brain??

In many ways I admire Google, but I think they have a narrow view of the way we should be using our minds. They have this... view that everything's about how efficiently you can find that particular bit of information you need – and then move on to the next.

Thus, there is no use of human intelligence & our intellect is not put into exercise. So, slowly we become dumb to do practical tasks.

I dont think that google is diminishing our memory retention capacity....although its increasing....bcz more you will find the facts, knowledge from the search engine the more you will become knowledgeable.Retaining facts in your mind depends upon your interests, level of concentration and genomes. Its nothing to do with facilities available through search engine.

Thanks .Ruchi, i agree with you., but "SEARCH ENGINES" either Google or any are basically developed to clarify one's confusion and no to compound it.

No. I don't think so because It is very similar to a glass fill half of water and some says that the glass is half empty and others says that the glass is half full so its up to you to take these helpful features to make yourself dependent or make yourself more confident that now you can take challenge which you earlier cann't take without someone who be there for your guidance and help. So take it positively and take it as only helpful friend and never be try to slave of it

Does Google damage user's brain?

I am not agree with the fact that the Google damage the usre's brain. The first culprit should be Calculator which is used for such a long time. Everyone feels that if there is any source which eases our work, then it has some side effect. If you compare us with our past generation, there was no tarnsport or other facilities. No doubt it has mede us physically weak as compared to our last generation due to use of machines.

In the similar way if we use google for every information, then we get is as it is which was supposed to prepare by the hard work where our brain should have been used. Every new technology comes, but the importance of brain or hardwork has not been degraded. Open source software and ERP is available at zero cost, even then the poeple with brain is required to implement it. The effort which was required earier for getting any information has been reduced to millisecond by Google.

Google is just not a search engine it is a warehoudse of information also so if an user uses google to search information it is really time saving process and now these days time is more than money so i donot think so that it will harm users brain but user must have some knowledge about the art of googleing like how thw information is seached, how to write a query ete. etc.

No. Any sort of update in software or in the search engine requires feedback from the customer base or public opinion. Therefore, damage of human behaviour in terms of think tanks will be normal. So, if any one gets a feeling that his creativity is at loss using the google "" Instant"", we can try several other search engines available in the internet. Give them a chance to rise as well.....but I am sure, other search engine's will improve too, then what will be our mental state ???????? at the end will everyone be a Dumb !!!!!!!!!!!

Google is actually preventing the brain from getting damaged... how much information can brain store??.. so Google has taken the responsibility to store information.. now humans need to know only one thing to know anything, that is to know "how to use Google.. "

Providing a lot of relevant info only helps in decision making. Thus, it sometimes eases the method of solving a problem. But it has nothing to do with the algorithm by which we formulate the problem in an almost solvable manner. We need to make our own decision applying our own sense of reasoning. So Google is not making us dependent on itself.
