I agree that we IT professionals are too involved in our daily work that we rarely spend time in bothering about how our is being reflected or solving the purpose of our clients in U.S. We do not spend too much time in looking at creative ways or rather innovative of doing things and follow the same process or guidelines set up to complete or meet the deadlines.

Hey thank you Mahalakshmi, for your invitation to join this debate. First yes, Indian it Industry lacks Innovation. As far as i know it starts from the lower level to the upper level. For example the selection process, A Engineer in bio-chemistry works in IT industry Wofffffff.. How its possible, how there will be a innovation, this is one simple example,. And the students and the people are always fascinated by the IT GIANTS. They dont care about the work they do, they care about what they get, SALARY, INCENTIVES, ALLOWANCE, GIFTS, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH,... So everyone in india , wants to become a it guy, So anyone in india can become a Software Engineer, which makes the IT Companies in india Less Innovative. 2. The biggies the get huge amount of money from U.S, i mean the guys who gives project, so the hire whomever they find in Streets(:P) and make them as a software engineer. This is what is happening. And what they ask them to do is , keep maintain this stuff, No need to do new stuff, And the huge meetings are to satisfy the Customers. So in the meeting they plan how to deliver the "specified design, infrastructured" project on time, So there wont be no Creativity. I think first it must come from the Students, If a student really dream of becoming a Software Engineer, he will never stay in a organisation in India for more than 6 months. He will keep on Switching untill, he gets a really Challenging Work. ONE SMALL EXAMPLE " LOOK "A IRON AND STELL COMPANY OWNS A SOF"T"W"A"RE INDUSTRY AND "T"H"A"T IS WELL RENOWNED " ..:) .. sorry if i am rude P.s Shiv

Obviously YES....Change can not be brought into a technology coz once the technology is implemented on hardwares it takes time to get the desired output. In case of Telecom we see,the hardware once used is replaced only if it gets faulty by its higher version or may b with the same verson.

As I have seen most of the IT professional lack in common sense also, with this how can you expect the creativity / quality. We as a common man can analyze from the process of work what they do. They have set output / result which they has to deliver and with in the limited time. With this scenario how any body can expect the quality and creativity.

Cen percent true.......as we dont want to lose our client...everyday we are concentrating&continuing with our daily service and maintenance oriented tasks...and mch struggling to finish the task planned for the day........and obviously ppl are not allowed to have time for implementing their creativity into the task...... Most of them were habituated in such a way that it would be greate if we simply end up the work without any issues....

Yes, very true; we lack the creativity; this is not the case with every Indian but majority of the Indians are really NOT passionate about their work. We don’t work in a organised manner like Japanese and Chinese who are much organised and manage their time well, were as Indians just move around, chatting and gossiping and then starts to burn the midnight oil to meet the deadlines, this is my experience.

It's nothing else then business and trends. The same happens (this trend) in the US and Europe and the rest of the Far East. In India there is a big industry of maintenance, so what? In Northern Holland too. In South Holland is the place where the creativity is, but what do they do? Maintenance, because there is not much innovating at the moment (business-wise). And about that creativity? They are now involved in the art of production. What I mean producing computer programs (like games for the iOS) in a tempo of 3 (new|old) games a week.

Its nothing like that. Indian IT professionals are having lot of potential, only the thing is they are not getting proper exposure or platform to show their capabilities. The thing is, the professionals who has the ability are being stuck into the maintenance projects taken up by big companies. If given a chance to work in research or in developing products, professionals can show their talent and win in this flat world.

It depends...however being in IT industry for 4 years and i have seen lots of changes in this industry. But one thing, i can proudly say that India has lots of potential and that's why Indian IT comps. are in top 10 list. As far as quality is concerned...we better know that 'Bangalored' term is in existence and it tells the full story
