Ya it doesn't Serve any purpose at all. Instead It spoils the good name created by such a politicans among the citizens. I really feel bad for Mr. Chidambaram , as he is more good at Inflation & GDP. So May Be a Wrong person at the office for the wrong job . Admitting ones Lapse so Easily , May Be Little Coward .....

Resignation is the easiest and fastest way out of the problem!! Secondly, the minister will earn the sympathy of the illiterate masses who will be taken away by the "camouflaged" regretful stance of this sort. Such kind of stances MUST NEVER be entertained. instead, the minister must be given a strict timeline (which should also be declared to the public) within which he MUST be able to sort out the issue and present a report to the government.

Who is responsible? This debate between centre and state which is politically driven is going to see no meaningful action on naxals in the near future. In about 10 states in India there is no rule of law and how long the centre will take refuge behind the argument that it is state subject. Then why Mr PC should offer to resign? Which state or paramilitary force has the capacity to fight machine guns, mines, bombs and rocket launchers? India is suppose to have very high resolution camera fitted satellites which should provide naxals movements. (may be we get more info thru google maps?) Centre lacks resolve, State governments not interested, army does not want to intervene - then it would be prudent to leave it to GOD and as usual curse our fate.

Yes,though not completely it does serves some purpose. Resignations of ministers at higher posts makes the Govt. think on its loop holes & the areas where they lack efficiency.
Further it shows the nation that the concerned minister is worried about his country men.

There is never a shortage of politicians, and they are seldom skilled in any kind of damage control. In my country there is a minister of transportation that is glued to his seat in spite of the major traffic accidents record in railways comparable to that of a whole India. His staying in position serves only one purpose - to warn people against boarding any trains.

The Minister's " .. buck should end to her / his desk " - resignation may not be a solution that too abruptly. She / he must finish the undone jobs, if any. Actually, incidents may not be a topic to be used for blame-games in case of immergencies - all should act together when a burning issue is being faced by the nation. Honestly, in this issue, Mr Chidabaram is not perfect. So many states are suffering due to the activities of the Maoists and he is not ready to bring Central Govt. in full strength to counter. But, yet, he should be given a chance to find quick solutions.

no this is not the solution rather its the big question of everyone's security from neighboring countries when we are not able to sort out our home threats. our ministers are just getting there hands back after any mishap. last time Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh resigned after 26/11 now what??????he is now in cabinet...what he lost????even he gained from state now he is center.....so just resigning is not the solution please do something for your nation when you are given the responsibility or just quit your career in politics no need of these sot of show offs...............

Hahaaaa..... what a joke!!....These ministers do it just for the sake of doing it. We all have been seeing this from many years, but has anything changed ...NO. Our country is in such a state that the resignation of one minister will not help, in fact the entire ministry should resign. Their place should be filled with people who don't know to play with the emotions of people, & who know that service comes first & then self pleasure....
Thus, in todays world resignations don't help.....WE DEMAND STRICT & EFFECTIVE ACTIONS WITH SEVERE CONSEQUENCES..
