When money is less, only for a normal survival, people seem to be more caring, more sensitive, more considerate about the things and people around them, but when they have too much money, they tend to presume, rather false notion in my opinion, that the money can buy anything on this Earth, and they CAN HAVE everyhting. And as a result, they stop being same sensitive, caring, and considerate about the same subjects, and objects which they had when they did not have too much money. In given cases, it is found that Money does corrupt the minds, and their sensibilities, objectively as well as subjectively. Money does help but can not buy or give everything on Earth !

Money cannot always corrupt the mind.Money earned with inappropriate ways may corrupt the mind. But money earned through hard work will never corrupt the mind. A person who has put in his or her all hard work and gets rewarded always values money and so he or she will most likely not let the money prevail on the mind. Money is the driving force in the market oriented socio-economical environment today. It has a larger dimension than it used to have a couple of decades ago. It is no longer a luxury of a handful of big people but is a comfort of a larger mass base. Our upper middle class is a class example. They are enjoying the life with their hard earned money without corrupting their mnd.

No Money but, its EXCESS can.

What happens if one overeats? Anything in excess is bad.

In case of money it is severally more dangerous as it creates excess in several other aspects as well including inflating false ego and a platoon of sycophants who keep massaging this false ego while the "egoist lives the life in coma or on a ventilator'. ...........Never noticing the deprived all around.

Yes money corrupts the mind. Human wants are unlimited and hence they are on the look out for money by any means. Example, please take a govt. employee, besides his salary, he is also earning something through unfair method. The definition for money is: Money what it does. Naturally it will corrupt everybody who are having needs more than required. It is a very known fact that how many people from India are keeping the bank account in Swiss Bank. All are unaccounted money that are accrued through corruption or black money. The politician thro corruption and the business people thro generation of black money/unaccounted.

I had read a quote which said, 'You are honest until you have an opportunity to be corrupt'

Money makes the world go round! There is no second thought on that. When we are comfortably sitting in a protected environment, we may preach about honesty, spirituality etc. but when we undergo sufferance that is the real test of our integrity!

Yes. To some extend true. The ego rises beyond control if one earns money unexpectedly. This kind of problem occurs when money converts a poor to rich. Interestingly, in our country people respect the rich with out looking the background and culture of the person. This makes him greedy and a wrong impression goes to the society. Money is the fastest moving element in this world. It is the instrument that makes thousands rich to poor and vice versa. The hidden theory of moneymaking is earning it with prestige and spending in a sacrificing manner. The money will not leave you years after year and births after birth.

1800 - 1500 ... If people think, they are toll free numbers ... they would be sadly mistaken.

It may be just the tip of the ice berg ... corruption figures just unearthed from a single individual ...

Rs. 1,800 crores of hard cash and 1,500 kilograms of gold said to have been ceased from the offices / residences of Ketan Desai, President, Medical Council of India.

Obviously many under-hand dealings must have been going on for quiet some time; he must be well connected with the powers that be, having got re-elected and to daringly indulge in such large scale corruption. If a public enquiry is conducted, many heads may roll.

There may be many more such corrupt officials in India. If all of them are caught, the Government may get a few lakhs crores of rupees which can be used for genuine poverty alleviation schemes.

Telgi, Raju, Koda, Ketan, and many more ... Is this not enough reason for the Government to demonetize currency in steps (immediately rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 currency notes and the rest in due course of time) and introduce Biometric Smart Card based transactions for eliminating corruption.

Please circulate to all well meaning citizens for a public debate on "The need to kill the cancer of corruption before it kills us".

ROOP JALUTHARIA, a good debate, appreciate the choice of topic.

Yes money does corrupt the mind, corruption of mind means fullfillment of vices

Once you haev money you can fullfill all your desires, and desires are vices.

So we rund after our vices, but that is where education, bring up and the family culture play a very important role

example- when money comes in one may develop habit of drinking, but then family values, education will always soudn the person to refrain from drinking if the person does not heed then eh has corrupted his mind

Irfan, well said we should not run behind money, money should run behind us. Yes thats true money changes everyone but only a few are changed by mind. Onces people see more money their expectations and wants increases and that leads to the corruption of mind. So be happy with what you have, don't waste your life for money.

Dear Bhavesh,

Excessive and rapid accumulation is mainly possible through unfair means, it could be as simple as over exploitation of someones demand. Yet if you look at the percent of people who have earned fairly and are, as well not inclined to share with society the cause and effect becomes evident. How many business owners sincerely pass the due share to their workers or are ready to reinvest a major share in progression and R & D keeping requisite check on self consumption.

This may be beginning of corruption of mind.

If we are obsessed with MONEY (only) , our lives / family / society might be destroyed. It does not mean : there may not be requirement of money in our lives. Sorry 2say, in recent times, a section of members of Middle Class, is thinking otherwise.

In a situation where money ONLY is counted :-

---  We may like to join Terrorist groups who pay hefty amount for their activities ( we say crimes )

---  We may become "supari-kellers" who are paid handsome amounts ( again for crimes)

---  We may join them who resorts to "abductions" - easy money may be available

---  We may join Spy / Espionage groups to endenger our own country - handsome amt is paid

---  We may become "Adultrators" who earn huge money by mixing bad items in foods even medicine

Yes, Money can corrupt the mind if in excess. Money is a material or tool that is essential once in a while and not the reason or goal of life. Thus akin to overeating causing stomach ailments, excess of money can cause unnecessary ideas and thoughts or making schemes to over accumulate. As it is necessary to eat one bite less for a good body health it is better to have space for some material.

I don't think money will corrupt your mind unless and until you earn it through illegal sources. Money always provide sense of growth.

Take the example of a person working in a organization. How does the person feel that he is growing in his life. I think promotion and promotion brings some additional money in his life which create sense of growth in his mind.

So, money doesn't corrupt a person unless it earns through illegal sources.

Once a person starts earning money through illegal sources his mind become dampen and takes the person's mind in several illegal direction.

This happens because earning money through illegal sources is 50 or 100 times mulitiple of his acutal capacity to earn. This dampens his mind and makes him corrupt.

Yes. Money is a manifestation of energy. It is a physical form of power. There are several forms of power; some of them physical and some of them metaphysical. Power is a two-edged knife. It can generate and also degenerate, depending on how one uses it.

Money, being a form of power, has to potentials to nourish or spoil, i.e. corrupt.

When we prepare food items or medicine for long term use, we add preservatives, like honey. It preserves the medicine without becoming decomposed. Like that the power should be preserved by good value system.

Our elders subordinated wealth (artha) to dharma. Artha earned in accordance with dharma will not corrupt. Artha earned by violating dharma will corrupt.

As we know Human wants are unlimited and we human being struggle through out over life to gather as much as we can, a person not having any thing will be struggling for bread and butter, person who is capable to earn his/her livelihood will be struggling for betterment in his/her life so person may go greedy. Somewhere in between it catches and corrupts our mind...

Money is the root of all evil for those who take advantage of people who are good.Money will not buy intelligence for the fool, or admiration ,or respect for the incompetent. Wealth and the desire the accumalate it is at the expense of others. One does not profit in the stock market without someone else conversely loosing money. Big companies drive small companies out of business not because they were smarter or better thinking people. Big corporation drive small companies out of business by side deals with politicians that take cash for less taxes or breaks in zoning that smaller business do not get.

Of course it does. When too much money comes into hands, a man starts spending in unnecessary. Majority of the wars and battles till date were faught mainly for Money. Not only that, the corruption in a country also happens when a man sees money more than required, he forgets his moral duties and responsibilities. So, we should possess money whatever is required not excess or there is a danger of our minds also getting corrupted.

I don't think that it is the money which corrupts the mind it is mind which is already corrupted and tends to earn money from illegal and immoral ways. The peoples on the opposite side seems to see rich people as always corrupted. If money corrupts the mind that means all rich people are corrupted, but that's not true.Sometimes money becomes the motive for dishonesty but still it's not the money which is making anyone dishonest it's the dishonest mind which wants to make money this way.

I wish I could say yes, but I agree little with this aspect that corruption starts with money.  In past no doubt there were a lot of compassionate feelings for human kind and people cared for one another. But what happened is that people have less time for each other and people are putting all their time and energy just to fulfill their basic necessities. People unfortunately have such a hectic lifestyle that they are unable to spend time on other interests or at least act of compassionate feelings. This has made humans more practical and hard. With very less time at their disposal they are content to live in solidarity.

It is the necessity to survive makes them harsh. Life is not that easy these days. It is difficult to maintain everything and satisfy each and every wants of our life. So, I believe that corruption starts with necessity and then ends with greed for everything right fro m money to happiness. But truth is that a corrupt man can never be happy, he is destined to be unhappy in one way or other.

I strongly feel, money is not at all motivator of corruption.

Rather, money (or lust for it) is used as an excuse by people, who tend to indulge into corruption at the slightest chance.

For the people, with strong character and whose mindset is built on strong prnciples, money is no reason for drifting away from principles. They concentrate on their mission, dedicate their efforts for it, and money is just a bye-product of the process.

Money that is VITAMIN 'M'. Money makes man but sometimes it also mad man. Money is only can make or spoil one's mind. But it vary person to person that how one's perceptions towards money. If we talk about Corporates then Money is only mean which lead their employees to work positively.

Money always doesnt work negative or corrupt one's mind. There are people who works for their own prestige, their loyalty. It is difficult for money to corrupt all these people who are loyal.

Money makes a man or mad a man it depends on one's perceptions, thinking, attitudes towards money.

I feel that the LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL(I quote from the Bible)

If a person understands what his basic needs are ,then the money becomes a necessity for Living.

The moment person Looks at life from a different angle like comfort, luxury, status symbols, fame, etc and focuses on it ,its then the infinite accumulation of money starts and then it just becomes ahabit

In some cases the circle of society in which the person mingles gives tendency for the mind to go corrupt.

So actually it the other way round It is the mind which is corrupt or rather gets corrupt.

Mr. Sodhi,

What is it that you havent understood in my comment?? The concept of being corrupt OR Is the mind already corrupt??

I can explain it to you. An already corrupt mind means that the person has to realise he is in a position to think that he can make money inappropriately. To think and realise that, you must know thw HOW? and What? For that your mind has to already think of ways to make money inappropriately. The person cannot manufacture a situation, he has to understand that he is in the situation to make money the wrong way. The mind is already corrupt!!

Thanks Mr. Sodhi

Its not money which makes people corrupt...... the greed of money making by illicit means makes a person corrupt... you may take examples of several industrailists they make money but they are not corrupt... Ambanies, TATAs, BIRLA's, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet etc several others....

It is the moral hygiene of a person, i mean irrespective of abilities if people want to make money... and desire of making money without an adopted ethical process will always lead to corruptin... Money itself is not a factor to make a man corrupt......

Corruption may make money.... but money doesn't.

no,its not money... its the way you desire and way you take to pursue it.It all depends on Prakriti  that tends you to do right and wrong if we keep aside the"conditions".If you are honest to yourself... you will never do anything that makes you feel guilty of [again keeping aside the extreme conditions]. you will be ready to pay for honesty rather than to have luxurious life after all you need a peacefull sleep at the end of the day. so,my friend... "corrupt mind will entertain curruption in any form" and money is one its form Easy and Valueble too at the same time. Money cannot corrupt any Mind.

Thanks for the referral!!

MONEY is the vehicle that corrupts an already corrupt mind!! I believe that every person has some ambition, some desires that need fulfilment and he is always looking out for ways and means to achieve that one goal. It could be financial stability, it could be a dream house or even a Mercedes Benz... Now all of this requires a reason to be physically true. The mind of such a person is always scouting for "opportunities" that would take him a step closer all the time!! If such an opportunity does present itself to one such person, then there are two ways to go about it... "Cash or Kind"!!

SO you see according to me MONEY will always remain a vehicle for achieving a goal through a mind that is already CORRUPT! You need to be a little devious in your mind to understand such an opportunity, realise a need in the person opposite and seek his helplessness to go ahead and get what you need out of him!! Also, to note is that BOTH parties need to have the same passion to GET WHAT THEY WANT!! Its not a single mans game..

Dear Sir

All you have written may or may not be right, for the only and one reason being & that is morality. Whether it is the bride or the groom, it all depends on the morality. Does 1 want House or ar a Home more? Does 1 want Bravery or Courage more? Does one want a family or togetherness more? Does one want Pride or Power more? Does 1 want to a partner or a spouse more? Love as people may say is: Understanding, confidement, trust, faith, etc. But basically, it means,"TO WANT & TO BE WANTED". You have to decide what you want. After that, all is fair in love and war. Understand what makes you happy, is it the extra money your spouse gets from you or is it the extra(risk, corruption, tantrums you bear, etc) you bear for your spouse.

These are my thoughts and no one has provoked me for the same. But yes, I'd like to say, "Where are we in the growing & the progressing world. I think NOWHERE! We are 2 small for thesse a kin'a discussions. Are we liberal? Someone make me believe it"!
