Quality work involves dedication, consistency, and a little bit more time. In case a project has been completed as per schedule means the project work has been executed with quality standards as per the engineering principles, which involves the calculation of time/period at which it can be completed. So in my opinion a quality work requires some period/time to devote for the completion and naturally delay is emerged up to some extent. Haste makes waste.

Its all depends on the work delivery, if you have less time and you are concentrating on the quality then the speed will decrease obviously. though, you can later bring up the quality in work, if you have time. but mean time you wont be able to see quality.

I chose "YES" for 2 reasons a) Quality, with larger picture in view, has a positive effect on speed of work. (Its a different question though that by adding "it will decrease" in front of "yes" my type of response has been kept out of option.) b) In a given situation with a given set of resources, if attempts will be made to increase the the speed of work then quality will certainly be adversly affected. Hence, it inversely implies that the speed of work decreases for want of quality work if resource reinforcement/upgradation is not done.

Quality has nothing to do with speed. To make it clear I`d like to give a very simple example from our daily life. If there are two students appearing in an examination then it is not necessary that a student who completes the paper in 2hrs. will score lower to hiss counterpart who did the same in 2.5hrs or so. Quality depends on the skill you develop and not on your speed.

Quality means removal of variations in the process through continuous improvement. It can be achieved with proper work/time schedules. When the work is initiated for the 1st instance, the time taken will be more when compared to the 2nd instance. Both the arguments are unjustified, in fact when the quality of work improves, productivity also increases. Just compare India with USA, JAPAN, GERMANY, FRANCE, ITALY, KOREA & we find that their Productivity & Quality is much ahead of us. Agriculture as well as Industrial productivity are much less than in comparison to China, Israel, Japan, Korea, America, Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan etc Almost every thing imported from outside - very few things are exported. Small nations like Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hongkong etc are much ahead of us in all fields starting from Science & technology to Industrial Growth.
People Chew Pan Masala, Khaini, Jarda & spit on Road & Public Places like Hospitals, Schools etc. Everybody wasting time in Cricket, Gossiping, SMSing in TV Contests, Chatting & speculating in Shares.
More than 20 Crore mobiles & More than 1 crore Computers / Laptops in India, but not a single piece is made in India.

Doing a quality work under proper safety measures never affects the progress at site; it all depends on the mentality/dedication of the site project team to maintain it under proper planning/supervision. Our contract period duly accepted by the contractor is to deliver a quality product at the end to the satisfaction of the client complying with the prior agreed specifications and methodologies. Faster job doesn’t mean we should compromise on these and the work can be done with any pace if proper planning and supervision is ensured.

i don;t think the speed of a work will be decreases if we give consideration to quality... just for one or two days after the worker will adjust to that and he will do the work as fast as it he has done before... never give for speed compromising quality... later the time used for patch work, and the energy put on it will be equal to the savings earned from lesser quality...
