Yes and No. Social sites will come and go. But social networking is a dynamic and fluid force. I find it useful to view networking as the physical manifestation of the synergy among contacts. People join communities for many different reasons. The assets they bring may share little in common with the community's purpose . In order for a network to be effectual, it must first take stock of its human assets... skills, knowledge and connection to outside groups. On the other hand, a community retro-designed from an ultimate desired goal, is able to announce its needs and has a greater chance of attracting valuable and committed members.

Of course it does, any social networking sites has lots of communities related to various topics. Mainly these communities acts as a discussion forum of the members. These discussions adds knowledge to the existing knowledge of the contributers which, in turn helps them in taking proper decisions.....

I don't think so. Social networking communities today has become more gossiping arena rather than important discussions one. Very few of them does serious discussions. majority of them are indulged either in baseless discussions, or the topic diverge from its basic topic itself. In this situation, I don't think social networking sites really contribute to the desired effect on the communities as targeted...........
