Yes, majority of workforce feel to switch the jobs for career advancement, because In India specially there is a lot of gap between the career a person opts, then gets to some college due to non availablity of courses, end up landing into a different career altogether. Due to this mismatch and not defined specific roles in the organisation, majority of them are always in search of the jobs. An organisation which correclty identifies the skills and objectives of the person and align the employee goals with organisation goals, will be successful in retaining the employees for longer duration. This requires a continous efforts on the organisation to evaluate employees roles/Jobs and enrich them.

Gone are the days of old saying that 'Rolling stone gathers no moss' In fact in modern times it is'Rolling stone gathers much more moss that the stone which does not roll' However this has to be weighed in proper perspective when a meaning ful change should bring along all the career benefits rather than mere material gains. If the organization has well designed career plans, the employee can roll withing and get the reuisite growth.

yes, change is must to advance in career, it is beneficial for both - the employer and the employee. For the employer, a new person comes with fresh ideas and diverse experience. That is why they pay more to the new employee than give promotion / salary jump to the existing emplyee. For the employee also, being too long in an organisation, makes him "taken for granted" and reduces his importance of his contributions for the management. Emplyee also, with the same environment, for many years, becomes used to that and is not contributing much, with respect to any major changes which may be required from time to time with the changing business environment around him.

I would like to thank Dipika Das for referring me, Yes I do support you about this debate, well as you mentioned statistical report says 56% of workforce are agree upon this statement that mean it’s clearly indicating that Indian company are lacking to satisfy their employees need and wants and they are failure because of inefficiency and ignorance and negative attitude of the Top management towards there responsibilities, management should focus their spot lights towards employees to understand there threats and to find out the solutions, as we know employees are assets of every organisation so essentially we have to treat employees to delight them which helps to retain there interest about their responsibilities and it enhance the growth and which helps to meet organisational goals.

Organizations have to evolve themselves to provide a better clarity on the job roles and growth attached to it. An employee working for a longer period of time has to get through the learning process and increasing expectation levels from peers and superiors is in itself a big challenge to cope up with. Job Hopping alone cannot be justified as a growth factor - it can be considered only when the individual has overgrown the company's capability of offering a role to satisfy his / her needs

I dont think constant job hopping is good enough as far as career growth is concerned. Frequent job hopping will create a negative impact on mind of the Recruiter/Organization as the employee is not stick around for a substantial period of time in the Company. Most importantly future employer not termed the employee as loyal to the Company.
