At this moment, Visual Studio 10 CTP can be downloaded from Microsoft. Of course, Microsoft states that everyone should use this product and that it will help us to develop faster, better, more agile.

What is your view on this. Is Visual Studio really worth the trouble of upgrading all those developers/development machines, or can we as easily wait for the next one?

I am inclined to the 'wait'-option, but perhaps one of you can switch my vote?

Visual Studio 10 is a good step to take Vs You'd better wait for the next version (or the one after that)

I get the feeling that Microsoft wants Visual Studio to 'envelop all' for the developers. This will mean that more and more people will not choose the best tool for the task, but merely the easily available tool.

Granted, the TFS has a good point for maintaining your source and regstration of bug/features, but a simple connection with their own CRM was (and still is?) not possible without the use of custom software.

In the recent professional developers conference it was discussed that,  The main feature of VS10 is lab management, which leverages virtualization to enable software development and test teams to build higer quality apps. Lab management accelerates setup/tear down time and elimiates no-repro bugs by creating better integration across dev and test teams throughout the application lifecycle.. so i guess one should go for it.

According to me i had read that Microsoft had earlier released the CTP of Visual Studio 10 that among other features “lab management” which unlike other tools, lab management which is fully integrated to Visual Studio Team System allowing teams to collaborate more effectively and not have to deal with disparate tools. Lab Management leverages virtualization and allows multiple checkpoints to be created across lab environments consisting of multiple VMs. Since the checkpoints are part of the same image as opposed to having to clone at every state snapshot, that reduces the proliferation. In addition, lab management ties the environments to the notion of a project which allows the lab administrator to clean up the images as projects are completed.  And i too agree with Dennis here that we should wait for the next versions....
