Yah, the effect of western culture has changed Indian youth a lot. It has its own positive & negative side. To live in this completive world we have to make our self compatible to adopt the changing life style if it seems to be very comfortable. The effect of Western culture in Indian youth can be seen in most of the actives as dressing, food habits, the way of moving with others and even western dance has gained its popularity among Indian youth. We people usually underestimate our country and overestimate foreign countries. Usually we prefer to buy foreign products from perfume to car bcos we think those products were more quality than ours. There is something to learn from the foreigners as keeping the environment clean & not to throw the waste on the roadside. But we Indians follow these rules & regulations in their country but forget to implement in our country. And in this mechanical world we r slowly forgetting our traditional culture which may not be known to our future generation. So, it is in the hand of Indian youth to suck only the needed things from the western culture and leave the waste that is not needed. If you are really interested in getting addicted to the Western culture, get to know about their mannerism and neatness of the surroundings. Wearing Jeans and minis is not enough to acquire the western culture.

Yes it is helping us a lot, especially in social development. Since we follow western culture, foreigners are willing to spend time in India. And many companies come to India because we are used to their culture...

Unfortunately many people mistake material and technological achievement with cultural superiority. It is quite sad...and at the same time, farcical...to see both individuals and societies as a whole so willing to sell their identities for the cold and unwelcoming embrace of so-called "Western culture". As India seeks its place in the world...a role based not just on acceptance but mutual respect by the international community...I think it will find that a path of discernment and diversity will allow its people more opportunities in the long run... certainly more than just blindly mimicking the insanity of others.

You are always trying to accommodate foreigners. You want to act like them when they are in your country and also want to mingle with them when you are in their country. Be yourself and teach them your culture and let them experience the difference like you did. Then it is up to the individual to decide.

I have to disagree with you on this issue. Foreigners do not come because we act like them, but to experience a totally different culture, etc. I am not sure what social development that you have seen from western culture.  Social and economic developments are two different topics.

Any culture can influence any other culture But, when it comes to the discussion on whether whether western culture helping for Indian Social Development, I cant agree with it. We might be imitating the cultures of others, not because we dont have rich cultures, but because we are more interested in other cultures rather than respecting our own cultures.

I think that when there is change in culture there are some good and bad. Western culture has good thing in it which we should implement in our day to day life. We should take in their organization skills, quest to modernization, development.

Yes it is helping. But it should be aware that what is good from western culture can be followed and following blindly without applying the reasoning will take us to trapping. It should be differentiated what is good and bad.

Yes. It gives the required comfortability to foreigners. Our Indians, when they go abroad can avoid the 'odd man out' look and mingle with them freely. As pointed out by Sanjana, tourism will improve. Thank you Sanjana for reference.
