In real life, it’s easy to figure out a 36-24-36 from a 40-45-50. But is the equation as simplistic in your workplace? Does your appearance make you more ‘hireable’ and ‘promotable’? We have heard about the good-looking woman who managed a good position in a company over a more competent man. These are still whispered voices in the aisles, but these are true in many workplaces.

I think yes, first impression is the best impression, and that holds true in workplaces also, and today its like that, if the employee is in a better presentable way and also people are better looking gets things faster than others as confidence is a factor which needs to be considered as one's appearence gives them how they are feeling whether one is confident or not in what one is doing and here even if a person is a great asset to the organization but is not in a presentable way to others and is shabbily dressed all the time will not get his or her recognition for that matter.

I dont agree with this at all.  One can see more good looking who are good for nothing.  One should be neatly dressed and presentable.  In regard to confidence it comes from knowledge one with sufficient experience can find out whether the confidence is that of a knowledgable man or a show as the saying goes in telugu"mekapothu gambiryam" which if translated the confidence of He Goat.

Like it is said first impression is last impression...it is very much necessary to be presentable as it reflects your personality & attitude...

Good looking or good impression may help in the initial stage and finally it depends on what has been contributed by the individuals. If there is no results it would be a great problem for those peoples.

yes its true always first impression is the best impression .if the appreance is good then everything will be sucess oly not in office always will want be good in appreance "but one important it should not be hireable to others......"always others want to appricate ur dressing sense........dont make them to command............

ATTRACTION TO THE OPPOSITE SEX IS AS NATURAL AS THE SUN RISING IN THE MORNING & MOON SHINING AT NIGHT... !

WHENEVER A MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITE SEX IS ATTRACTIVE, THERE IS GOING TO BE A BIAS TOWARDS HER / HIM. A Part of the behavioural pattern that GOD fitted US HUMANS with.

It may vary from Industry to Industry by a micro few percentage, but by & large... Its the same.

So... LOOK GOOD & GO FAR... !

Not merely , a pleasing personality promotes people high. But, individuals with intelligence & pleasing personality elevates people go high in ranks. Standing example we can site, not all pleasing girls are becoming Miss India / Universe but, only the one who has intelligence & personality outweighs others. The same plays a role in Business also.

There are certain profession that invites good personality as a main criteria, say , representatives (marketing/sales/medical , receptionist, air-hostesses, etc). So, we can not say good appearance made you height. It's the quality that was at stake. Otherwise, personality & intelligence, certainly , gives an edge over others.

Though the saying is FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE BEST IMPRESSION.....i dont think it really matters....May be for some peoples who is having some weekness on other sexes......But in a larger percepctive it is not a 100% true statement...

Hiring decisions depends on the industry. in fashion industry yes it is important. But for software industry it is not the defacto or the deciding factor when hireing a skilled person. Software industry does not run based on apearence but based on the skill one posses.
