I presume you are trying to convey that our elders are more disciplined, punctual, contented, and patriotic (these attributes as "moral values") then you are right, because they had witnessed freedom struggle and they know in true sense what "freedom" is all about, and they also know what it takes to guard the hard-won "freedom"! In the liberalized economy, we are allowed to compete with the global citizens. There is a tendency to try out what, hitherto, was restricted in this part of world. Therefore, we tend to ape culture of west. We will realize one day that our elders were right in maintaining discipline, once we have a set-back, till then we would revel in whatever we come across by way of material comfort!

The moral values in India are still better as we are having strong family background. The new generation has started asking for the rights on freedom of speech. The number of people is increasing multifold who talk about their own rights and duties of others. The fast diminishing family values are the main cause. Many parents do not find time for their own kids. The schools have their limitations.

Yes, money is the only reason why everybody is working round the clock & always on their toe. & nowadays moral values are secondary priority & money is at the first place for most of the people. Thanks for referral, Himanshu.

dear it too easy to say or speak out on any issue, but its really tough to decide a specific point of view over the above issue. Because moral values u talk about differ from people to people, socity to society, region to region and personal thaught of a person to person. what u want to define as a moral value might turnout to be a foolish to the one next door to you. But overall i would like to say that in India still u can expect people having moral values what u mean to define as such i agree we seem it to be lost in our general routine.  I still believe it will take a lot of time to see Indian People without moral values in general as that derivation cannot be reached analyzing certain people or mass.

Its because of education system , we are told from beginning only negative things about our culture , truth is that Hindus are most developed among all cultures both ethically and spiritually , spirituality becomes base of ethics, morality  , ethics based on materialism is of no use ,and that's what we are taught in this  westernized education , but we will never become like west ,

Dissatisfaction leads to downfall of moral values, if we keep a limit of every desire and maintain our priciples, still we could live a very healthy and successful life.

As we fail to create a honest culture in our next generation this thing happened so ultimately we are responsible for downfall of the moral value

While I agree with you to some extent I feel you are thinking that the situation to day is the same as 100 years before. You are wrong there or you are one among them.

Of course one can not be 100% honest and ethical. That doesnot mean that there is nothing wrong in being dishonest and corrupt. This doscussion is about the deteriorating situation that is bad to worst.

Sarika if you observe you will find that moral value system is on the fall after independence.

It will go up with the increasing income but will take time to show upward trend.

Earlier also there were wrong doings but that is mostly by hardened criminals.

Isn't morality an individual behavioral attribute? Idealists try to assess every situation from the specific base value they are adhered to while Practical people try to utilize every situation for some advantage. In some occasion & perspective one may view these type of behavior to be a downfall of moral value. But this is that very reason; why we are different from each other in our approaches and why throughout the ages we could explore, exploit, commercialize & grow. I believe more focus should be on 'How ethical & sincere we are in our approach'.

THIS IS THE COMMERCIAL AGE AND ALL RIGHT THINGS WILL LOOK WRONG AND WRONG WILL RIGHT. IN AN ELABORATE MANNER IT IS THE ACTUAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GIVING AND ACCEPTING CRITICISMS GIVING CRITICISM RANGES FROM CONSTRUCTIVE TO DESTRUCTIVE. DESTRUCTIVE IS VERY SPECIFIC, ACCUSING AND GENERALLY FILLED WITH SHAMING AND BLAMING. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM PROVIDES VERY CLEAR AND SPECIFIC FEEDBACK ON Y THERE MUST B CHANGE. MAKE A STATEMENT "YOU R UGLY" AND ASK PARTICIPANTS TO RATE ON ONE TO TEN SCALE.
