Actually the downward trend is not because of the sites losing their efficacy rather its due to the global economic slowdown. And when business are sufferring the world over, marketing tools like social media where the impact has still not been measured suffer the axe first and foremost. Brands tend to play it safe with traditional media like the print and TV which have delivered the results in the past. Its only a cycle and am sure the social media will regain its lost glory once the economy looks up globally.

FB/Twitter and other online social media is here to stay. This is not a short term success. Look at what happened in Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain. You will agree that these are outlets for your expressions. And culminate into a mass movement. Anti-Corruption movement is another indication. We are all citizens of androids, smart phones who help us keep in sync with things around us.

No I don`t think so. Every day you can`t expect an upward trend in any business. It is a cycle in which if today it is showing a downward trend it might be possible that with some modifications it may be back on track in coming future.

Original intent of social networking site was to keep in touch with one another digitally, exchange views on various topics over multiple viewpoints and provide a way of expressions,..subsequently, it became advertising and marketing tool too. That is a bonus, so in totality social networking alongside Social Media Marketing is a great success...
