I think professinalism should not be observed by dress but It should be checked with the help of tools like 1) Communication Skills 2) Intellectual level of MBAs 3) There capacity to respond in critical situation 4) His knowledge

The question here is about having a professional outlook towards the way people present themselves. We should not mix this idea with the Uniforms similar to what school children wear. Since the next step for any person in these professional studies would be a big corporate set-up or maybe a government office or even an hospital, we ought to teach them how they present to the society. Imagine a graduate or a post-graduate walking out of an University and suddenly find him in a big infrastructure with jeans and tees ?? We teach students how to build careers and what to adopt in their lives, why do we not support the idea of having better dressing sense ?

Dear Manoj excellent topic, Friends I thing we should apreciate few things especially those improves the social image & culture . Dresscode should be welcomed by everyone coz it's the very first lession which teaches us team work & respect for each other. which actually comes very fast with uniformity. Does not gives any opportunity to the cheep differences.

Dress code, as Mr. Dinesh rightly said boosts the spirit of equality and unity among the students. There are very less chances of a Fashion parade to start. It gives a different perspective to the minds of the students, in order to get serious about things. I disagree to keep uniforms but dress code is a must

Uniforms evoke respect and pride!! Armed forces, Law protectors, Doctors, Scientists and hospitality related businesses (Airlines, Hotels 7 F & B outlets like KFC, McDonalds etc) all have unifroms and its their identity. It is also a matter of pride for some. Some because there are others who feel funny in wearing them... If the government can design and implement a UNIFORM (EQUAL) dress code for these professional students across the country and across the all types of institutions, I feel there will be a new found respect and pride in the person wearing it and the people who look at them!! I would encourage this completely. thanks for the referral :)

I totally support dress code for all professional student. While at University, I felt very disgusted to see young men and women attending the same classes poorly dresses with untidy hair.(Girls in mini skirts, hot pants, tight jeans, revealing bust lines..boys in baggy jeans and t-shirts which could fit 2 of them)

I have always believed that a formal dress code (taking the local weather in to consideration) is an essential part of professional life. It sets the tone and yes, even generates some respect for the professional. I fully support the idea of introducing this at university level.

Dress code provides proper environment to work. Now a days in many cases students attention is getting diverted to other aspects as Fashoin, gossips, Cinema news and so many other things. Ultimately loosing valuable time for studies. Dress Code helps in creating better environment for studies and gaining knowledge.

It has been said that person attire judged the personality of individual, hence there is difference between an sales man and Sales Executive, the reason may be many but the important one is the attire the people wear it taking the above example the professional looks smart and feel motivated in a corporate attire....

Yes, I do, strongly, support. We see public school & residential schools, military schools, they do insist on dress codes, particularly, for various occasion such as pleasant musical evening, games, meetings, dinning etc .It develops a sense of pride with quality of living. Moreover, professional course students are supposed to live in professional environ where, this sense of living gives him a plus point. Off hours, they are ,at liberty to wear, what they desire to wear. Just ,wearing a prescribed dress is not taking away freedom rather teaching you a nice living & placing you good stead.

Hey Manoj, After a long time I have come across a debate on improvement in society, etiquettes associated with international lifestyle. I support you in implementing Dress Code for students undergoing Professional studies. Dress Code, in fact this was implemented during olden days only to keep away the children from segment segregation, because the child from well off family would certainly expose his dressing in front of the students/ colleagues coming from weaker or poorer segment. But now a days this theme has over taken and the poorer segment guys & gals have learnt to choose dressing in accordance to the trends. The dress code in professional institutes would not only spread a wave of uniformity but also it would spread the knowledge of dressing up. During child hood or under classes the children are rarely worried about dress maintaining but professional students being grown up, need to learn the same. Implemented dress code should be so decided that it suits to the future career and professional lifestyle of the student. It is observed at several opportunities that a MBA student during his internship do not wear necktie properly, do not select the proper combination in dressing up, lacks in choosing the casuals, formal, functional, ornamental clothing, whereas he is going to represent a company of repute during his future career. Dress code should be some thing like, Apron & Trousers, 2-piece suit with tie and black shoes, White Shirt with dark trousers & necktie, proper hair cuts, NO Sports shoes, NO jeans or T-shirts etc., so that he presents him self like a learned and etiquette d citizen and represents his company as a mannered executive/ engineer or representative. Here I agree that the dress code in entire country can not be the same and should be left to the institute administration.

Today students lack attitude the modern world slowly succumbs the behaviour nature of human beings and more from Younger generations. Students must be restricted to dress code system and must be closely monitored. This will create in them an good attitude , behaviour patterns and concentration on education is increased and therefore results. Nothing in the world cannot be succumbs People with excellent attitude. but we cannot expect all younger generations to have such traits. Iam greatly supporting such system of implementing dress code.

Forcing in the dress code would certainly not make any difference in the personal characteristics or behavior ... If not in the campus , it would be off-campus , Basic Idea in education is to develop the moral of a person in a better way .... Bringing in the idea of better dressing sense would be better than forcing it on to them ....

I am not support of Dress Code in studies even in schools. They are looking like mfg unit making machines out of human. Lets kids and children wear what they want to wear with some limitation but no uniform. Uniform takes Individualism from u and make u a part of the mob.

Dress code is in no way related to professional study, hence I can not support it. Study is not some sort of formal function to observe, unlike the graduation ceremony where the dress code is expected.

There should not be any dress code for what we call professional studies. For some people who accept the dress code, its good for them. But for some people its more of a kind of obligation and formality. In a more scientific sense, looking professional by merely adopting a dress code does no good to your professionalism. Then there seems no point in compelling to follow a particular dress or in a way we can ask why to curb somebody's dress ethics at work. Let him wear what he want.

Manoj good debate...... No students should not be restricted to any specific dress codes in the college. Because many may not be comfortable with that, a student should be a professional and not resemble like a professional. Once he learns how to be a professional he will dress better than the dress code. So colleges should try to make a student professional rather making them look like a professional. Even nowadays many big companies don't insist dress code, then why should colleges...... Thanks for initiating.....
