Tea contains high levels of compounds that combat the absorption of fat, Japanese scientists have found. These compounds, called theaflavins and thearubigins, stopped weight gain when given to rats on a high-fat diet, the journal Nutrition reported this month.

I take a cup of green tea with pudina leaves in the afternoons everyday after my lunch. I have found it to be effective in controlling my weight (if not reduce it). It also makes me feel light. Tea with milk and sugar is not useful and will have the opposite effect

I am guessing yes.

My guess is that drinking tulsi(Ocimum tenuiflorum) tea (containing only tulsi leaves) can be used as a strategy to block excessive weight gain during a high-fat diet, since there is a study about tulsi's fixed oil effects on rats {(Suanarunsawat T, Boonnak T, Na Ayutthaya WD, Thirawarapan S.,"Anti-hyperlipidemic and cardioprotective effects of Ocimum sanctum L. fixed oil in rats fed a high fat diet." J Basic Clin Physiol Pharmacol. 2010;21(4):387-400)}.

Of course, THIS IS PURELY MY GUESS since I do not know about the replicability of the study in humans, haven't seen anecdotal trials by friends and family trying it with high-fat diet, and haven't even done trials with myself, nor will I be doing any self-trials with tulsi for at least the next few months(because I am trying out some other dietary stuff).

afaik..the milk and sugar in the tea will not help in weight loss but in weight gain.. but yes tea has qualities which are helpful in combating or preventing the onset of certain diseases in the long run.
