I am in complete agreement with you on you views on the subject. Today there are umteen News channel and everybody is there to not only earn money but based on the TRP rating the price of advertisement goes up or down. They have to create news out of no where being a news channel take the case of Air Disaster on Saturday there are Channels which have shown the same news all through the day. Take the case of 26/11 because of these Channels the handlers of those terrorists were watching the TV and guiding them accordingly. With DD being the only News Channel earlier this things should have never happened.

If one is interested in pure news he will always opt for DD news in my opinion. Most of todays news channel linger on a news and stretch it too long unnecessarily. Redundancy is abundant on todays news channel living you bored after a while. Repetation of a news on DD, on the other hand, is negligible.

The DD1 news channels were good as they gave the news without any bias. However, today's news channels show tremendous initiative and give very good media coverage which helps to swing public opinion.... Some examples are -- the terrorist attack on Taj Mumbai and Jessica Lal's case..Due to wide media coverage, the public were able to see the actual incidents. Sometimes in their zeal to focus on the news, the bias may be evident in today's news channels either politically or unwittingly. However, the public is in a position to decide on which news to focus and on which news they will ignore.....

SEE DD1 DO NOT CREATE PANIC FOR THEM IT IS NEWS BASIC CONCEPT IS TO INFORM THE PEOPLE. BUT FOR TODAY'S NEWS CHANNEL NEWS IS FOR THEM IS MASALA, HOT SPICY DISH WHICH THEY USE TO SERVE TO THE LISTENER. DD GIVES VALIDATE NEWS WHERE AS OTHER NEWS CHANNEL WE NEED TO VALIDATE IT.

It is surely confusing. But it is for sure that if I want to listen pure news without views then it not possible for me to name any of the new channels (atleast which I see). The new channels can never avoid the temptation of giving their views/comments while they are delivering a news. In DD I find that. There are separate programmes for news and views. At least I can chose.

Explosion of Informations, technologies to dissiminate & techniques to propagate has, in the recent years reached a new heights. It does warrant people to get know about it .More the information, the more the truth comes out. But , we need to be careful while judging / analyzing it.

I Support the private news channels but would like to highlight these negatives in these private channels : 1. Over and over repetition of some trivial news and making it appear big. And having unwanted analysis of the news item by various people. This Irritates. 2. Non prioritizing the news. They don't know what to show first and so on. 3. Too much ads. If TRP is higher then increase the rates of advertising instead of taking in more ads. Now-a-days for every 5 mts of news there are 7.5 mts of ads. 4. Devote 1/2 hour slots for telecasting region wise news.

Dear Mr. Kothari , A good job of the pros and cons. After going through your summary , I put my vote for today's channels , only because they take more initiative in covering the news. As you say, sometimes they sensationalise , but as mature adults , I feel we can separate the good from the bad. For instance , during the epidemic of swine flu , if we had not had today's channels , the issue would never have been blown up , because we would have heard and seen only from the government's point of view. The different news channels vied with one another in getting interviews from the victims' families , from expert doctors , and from the minister. Yes , because of all this , the issue dragged on for days before it died its natural death , but that is the price we have to pay.

Also Todays news channel 1. Have created a lot of jobs. 2. Have made the people aware. 3. News come LIVE to home. 4. Instant & detailed news. I am confused which side to support. So i ask, which side you support.
