I go with the education, bcoz education brings us desired change in the society, education is "learning to learn".It helps person to dream big and strive to make that into reality. if a person has good imagination n good learning skills he/she could be more than the experienced .

Eperience helps you to use your Education differently in different situations.By getting educated you learn "What to do" theoretically by experience you learn "How to do" it practically in different situations.

Take the best of professionals in MNCs they are there because of their education followed by experience. Education is foundation to assimilate the experience and fine tune it so that it can be put to use.

We can find everywhere people with decades of experience are unable to grow up the ladder as they do not have necessary educaiton.

Education itself is sufficient to handle complex jobs in ones profession. Western countries use this approach, once you graduate one can land responsible and high paying jobs, even that of a CEO, look at the CEO's of Amercan Can corporatiosn and Citibank in the 80's were CEO's picked directly from graducate schools.

The reason being, they give more weightate to "congnitive" development of a studient. A person is supposed to go through stages of development, where an individual has to succefully complete his developmental stages. If there is flaw in development in any stage it will affect his personality and work habits, even if trained in work places according to the science of psychology.

At the age of 7 one completes the "concrete operation" state whee one learn to quantify things around him. Then comes the "formal operation state" where one learns to live this life.

When one grows up in an Academic setting one builds a "schema" which is the source for his "experience". One can choose in his Academic setting two routes, 1)cognitive schema and 2) action schema. If one chooses the second line one will not develope adequate experience in his work, which usualy is the Indian case where as in Western countries they choose the cognitive route which gives him adequate schema or experience to do complex jobs in ones profession.

Personality flaws develpe if one don't choose coginitive operation route. A personality is described as 1) Agreebleness, ability to co-operate2)conciousness- how easily one handles work, how carefree one is 3)Nueroticism-how effcient one works or inefficient he is, whether he does worthless work or functional in his job4)Introversion/extroversion5)ability to convery ecperience ie; is willing to share experience with others.

Once this is developed one is ready for tackling complex jobs in ones profession. Usually personality is develped in the Academia when one chooses cognitive route instead  od action route which is side tracking academia. So if one chooses cognitive route ones personality developes for complex work.

Development is also 1)pre conventional 2)conventional and 3)post conventional. One should be in post conventional developmental state after ones development, Academia here. If one developes through cognition route one reaches "post conventional" state of development which is nothing but fear for the rules and obedience and fulfiling job norms and functionality. So experience without cognitive development is a travesty.

My opinion is to get the best education you can and while getting experience to go along with it. Learning how the real world operates and learning how to operate in it will give you the double edge that is necessary for success......

I will speak from my experience ...

I had a tough time working with some "experienced people (or ill - experienced)", when I started my career more than 30 years back and sometime my bright innovative ideas were never or seldom appreciated by experienced one-track minds/brains, but it does not mean experience is not important; after 30 years, I can sort, shift & shuffle through my experience and produce more creative ideas ...

What is important is how you use your experience and whether its really worth it !

Here education is not just literacy, but bright-enlightened minds ...

Education gives you the basic knowledge but experience gives you the practical knowledge which helps you to deal with practical issues

Both education and experience is important. But if we need to choose one, in my opinion go for Experience.

Generally one should have education first and then apply that knowledge practically to gain the experience in the field. Alternately in case of experienced, one is deployed to a job and on the job learns and gathers the required knowledge. So if you are experienced, that means you have practical knowledge and also the required theoretical knowledge to get the job done. Whereas if you are only educated, meaning you are one step behind compared to experienced person to gather the practical knowledge in the field.

Let us agree what is taught is therotical and not what actually happens in inductry differ

So it is necessary to give experience , education helps you to understand the logic and theroy better

Once cnnot understand heat without being near a fire, one cannto understand what is cold unless he / she has held ice

Similarly experience is must that why we haev summers in MBA adn internship in CA and CS, so that students can relate better to what is being taught to them

Dear i would like to make the comment that without experience you can not judge exactly that what would happen next ? But in our country i have seen that education given more importance for label mark or to have honor in society. Otherwise if u think deeply you will know that you had also achieved your education from experienced professors but not from fresh professors. And think your self that can you do any single job without having particular experience in present scenario ?

Education helps us to learn the basic concepts which could be applied practically in job/real life situations. Experience helps us to handle the situation/perform in a better way. Education is very important as it is our building block but over a period of time, it is the experience which matters in order to move forward. Just to give an example of U.S. Education system- High school education is free and compulsory while higher education i.e. graduation, postgraduation is costly. so people prefer to take up jobs and then go for higher studies to gain those skills through education and learn about processes. In my opinion, both are important and should go hand in hand. After all, learning is a lifelong process.

An experienced person will always be chosen over a graduate. When the graduate would have accomplished some sort of experience, this is where his Education comes into play. He will be able to gained employment easily. There are some jobs that require skills and experience and not necessarily high education. 'Know how' is good but 'do it' takes precedent anytime.

Mostly in indian education system,it is likely to be experience as a student only goes by the bookish knowledge which is sometimes far from the practises followed in industry. We need a practical education system.

I believe that the experience is more important and it is experience which counts. It all depends how one transforms the education gained into experience.

Education is just to have an idea how things work, but its the experience which teaches the way things work.. It gives the practical aspect of things.

Education adds knowledge. Knowledge refined with experience make one wise.

As generations moves forward,  knowledge factor is tremendously advancing, but not wisdom in the same pace. With all advancement in knowledge, the civilization is not able to move together for a world government and equitable distribution of wealth. Knowledge give insight on the infiniteness of the Universe, but with that there shall be wisdom to know that the planet we own now is fragile and has a low life cycle and will end in a short span of time compared to the infinite age of Universe which will go on and on. Perhaps, wisdom will prevail and things and outlooks may change, with more Lincons, Gandhis, kennedys, Luther Kings, Mother Teresas, Obamas and Manmohans happen in the future.

However, from experience so far we know that few like them are not enough. Hope that soon the mankind will aquire the wisdom so that the vast knoweldge advancing in fast pace will be able to use bio science to inculcate more widsdom in the right direction in the man kind to come to take more care of the palnet they live in.

Biranchi : I admire your strategy and tact ... I had also tried such tactics and sometimes it helps, but it is frustrating many times and saps the vital energy and delays the fruitful outcome !

I have known many illustrations in history like George Westinghouse/ Nikola Tesla (Inventors - contemporary of Edison) and others, who faced such oppositions in career and sometimes succumbed to it ... Tesla inventor of AC Current died heart broken and in penury;

While agreeing to you somewhat/partly, I feel majority of us do not get such learning / education in school/college and it is good, if we can learn during formal curriculum and we learn by experience later (Life is a hard Teacher ...)

I am not against experience, but with more experience must come more wisdom & open mindedness/clarity to ideas and opinions rather, "I know more/everything bcoz of more experience" - a sense of closed mindedness or ..............

The more experience gives or must give me/others an open mindedness and sense/feeling that 'the more, I know ... lets me know/tells me that how little, I know compared to what needs to be known' as Sir Newton put it ...

I am very open to new/fresh ideas/approaches/opinions and point of views and ...

While we may need others - teachers/facilitators to learn, true learning happens by experiential or self-experimentational learning by insights, intuitions and unfolding of natural talent within us from inner propensities ...

Therefore education is nothing but learning how to learn and it can happen from experience also without formal education, but what is required is right attitude ...

I believe education is the knowledge that we gain from others while experience is the knowledge that we inculcate in ourselves.

Both compliment each other & both are intrinsic part of the growth of that knowledge tree within.

I agree to you Anup siron this point. My conclusion now on this matter is 'Experience sans education (formal) create ego driven fixed mindset which often frustrate & supress motivation to juniors from their freddom of thinking & innovative, creative ideas. Similarly education sans experience makes one a book worm which has no or little  practical use. Thus fusion of education & experience brings the best in any industry'.

I hope you will agree to this. Any further suggestion is welcomed.

Experienced people have the exposure to things and not necessarily be the graduates. At the same time,it doesn't mean that graduation is worst. As already said by Saleel, education gives you the theoritical exposure to things and experience is how you make use of your theory skills in practical life

Both educated and uneducated people are equally competent(more or less); but education really helps you in gaining better experience.

Having said all these, I also recommend the fresh graduates for any battle as the fresh minds come up with all fresh ideas that even an experienced chap can also not think of at times. But my first preference goes to experienced professional as far as the critical projects are concerned

Thanks for the referral!!

It is the education which help to find who are experienced but having a fixed mindset. Thus education must create innovation to deal such situation. Let me share an example. I have a very senior & experienced 'Construction Manager' who never has any formal education. I really admire him for his tons of experience but really worried about his ego driven fixed mindset. Finally I innovated a way to handle him & my problem is solved. During my struggle to convince him I have tried many methods. For example one structural module needed to be made in to two parts. The right way is to separate it vertically. As I knew that he will suggest opposite what I propose. Thus I proposed him to separate it horizontally, he immidietly proposed to divide it vertically. I aggreed instantly. He is happy that his ego is satisfied & I am happy that my job is done my way. Education taught me what is right. Experience help taught me how to handle. Thus I always belive Education fused with experience is really works in actual field.

Most of the successful personalities are not even cross their high school. Then how come we can support for education. Certainly experience is very important. Education is the system which derive our knowledge or innovative idea to work out. But from the supporting of history we can easily identifie the power of Experience.

Education with out experience really has no meaning. That is why experience always given more importance. Again experience is also an education that is acquired directly from field while executing by the superiors. Degrees are acquired through formal education while experience is acquired directly from work field. Thus execution entirely depend upon on-field expereince. But again that does not mean that education has no value. Rather we can sya that education fused with experience adds a lot of value. In engineering term we can say, experience says how to do a work. Education helps analysing the execution process & gives tools to innovate, develop the work method. Thus while a formal education has its own value but it needs experience to excel.

Saleel has really put it in a nutshell.

Education helps in knowledge, Experience helps in application of the gained knowledge! In the long run it is experience that would count more than the education. Education would help conceptualise ideas but experience would help in executing them. Thats where the brownie points are!!

education helps u gain and understand the experience well.
