Effect of use of facebook by professionals.

Facebook - A real social revolutionary worm.

During couple of years, FaceBook is one of fastest growing web community which has changed the meaning of social network. I would say it is certainly revolutionary which have a large impact within corporate & non corporate world.

We all knew about the best use of social networks, as we are using it and FB is part of our day today life. Having said that we all have a social responsibility where we seem to be lacking in following social ethics. There are so many undocumented rules we have to follow at workplace and most of the time we all follow, however FB is an exception at many places.

We have seen many of my friends using FB at workplace; almost every 30 min they have to check their page for postings/reply from others or change the status. This certainly adds question to your integrity and commitment at workplace. Moreover it creates nuisance; just to keep pace of gossip, people obliges themselves to use FB.

Everyone understand that each one of us needs some personal space, but at the cost of what?  We are being addicted to FB (that’s the reason according to me it’s a worm)

FB has given us more freedom to express ourselves, now the real question is   “Is this the world I am expecting to be around me?”

I need my privacy within friends and somehow people are ignoring the fact that non social elements are listening and interpreting my thoughts in different way. (Please read ‘non social’ as people whom I don’t know and don’t want in my friends list)

Recently, I came across one posting which says that 3^rd party services which are being hired by top companies for employee background verification have reveled quite interesting facts which might not be true; however I have seen people to face a hard time during their professional life. 

It is unfortunate that people face their performance appraisal meeting discussing (or I would say exchanging words) about FB postings, this is not professionalism. Generally our job description does not specify about using social network sites at work location   

This is a sign to be aware about world around us and our communication with our connections.

There are number of professionals who have shown a fine balance between personal and professional life in web space. Those are the role model for society.

Lets use the real power of social networks like FB to enhance our skill set and to create a professional world around us.
