Management will be more focussed on quality? Vs Management will give spending on quality less importance.

In today's time of recession companies globally are trying to be more effective and at the same time efficient. For any organization to be effective and efficient quality plays a major and crucial role in achieving this. Initially a customer stays with the company for low cost; however customers stay longer with companies who are able to deliver quality product.

I personally feel this is the right time to drive process improvement and increase process efficiency which in turn leads to huge cost savings. Quality is a matter of choice and it helps companies to deliver consistently.

According to me management will not give that importance in regards with quality i guess just because there is not much work is that is coming into the ITES sector and one wants to survive this recession..so even if one compromises on quality for the time being its ok but this trend we can see for another 1-2 yrs till recession is there and when it gets normal all the processes will return to the old ways where quality was the foremost priority.

In an ITES industry, nobody negotiates with the quality and focus will be on Quality rather the top Management cuts down cost of quality and also raises axe on quality department.
Any ways, If the management don't invest on quality, they will get obsolete from the market competition. They have to plan and invest on testing / process early in the SDLC phase or else might land up in huge fixing cost which will impact on the ROI ultimately.

I agree , management will be more focused on quality and performance of s/w products. Its a do or die situation. If they don't invest on quality or per say performance soon they will get obsolete from the market competition. They have to plan and invest on testing / process early in the SDLC phase or else might land up in huge fixing cost which will impact on the ROI ulitmately.

Quality is key for any project success, We should never compromise on quality even in recession times also. If we miss quality because of tough times, we may loss existing customers also and that will be big problem.

In this tough situation, the next loophole a client would look at to take or cutshort business will be the quality. Therefore, foremost priority will definitely be given to quality to retain or gain more business

I dont agree with Isha here, that quality will be compromised, but that is not the case quality should be the top priority and this is what customers are entitled for a quality product or a quality service, so if that is not there then there is no point it providing service...so even with the recession quality should not be compromised.

I personally feel in an ITES industry though from an observer point of veiw, its always that the quality will never be compromised and focus will be on Quality. But in reality the Top Management cuts down cost of quality and also raises axe on quality department.

Now a days we know that recession means reduction in purchasing power so increase in Qulaity is equal to increase in price which will lead to decrease in market share. To survive in the current scenario (till market picks up) company should some how try to capture the market share that would be by reducing cost.

yes this is true as to cope with quality there requires great deal of extra work which in turn greater cost of the project/product ,hecnce in this recession time proper functionality of the software is the main priority and rest quality is at level 2.
