Raising awareness about environment alone can not help. We have to see how we can get empowered to implement the same. We are crossing Yamuna river, day in and day out! Could we do anything about the industrial effluents and the sewage water of Delhi polluting the river. So many NGOs have raised objections over construction of Games Village along the bank of Yamuna River. You may recall, Sri Ravishankar, gyrated his volunteers to clean the River Yamuna - their exercise could last for a day, or two or at most a week. We have laws in place, but enforcement of such laws are missing. What happened in mining deals - we have heard of Reddy brothers, Vedanta issues, etc. We need Political Will and the associated agencies support to raise our level. Once that is done, yes, compulsory environment studies in schools should be called for.

Yes, definately its very essential to bring about environmental awareness at the primary level and make the students generate equal interest as sports,music and other activities

Yes it should be. And I think the syllabus has to be updated. Today's generation are not more concerned of the environment. So making few changes in the subject will make the next generation to do something for the environment....
