SAP is much more strong as far as integration is concerned and many different module covered by SAP ,continously providing the solutions for the different business verticals , Interms of customer base SAP is giving high competition to Oracle ERP. Initialy it was stated that Oracel ERP is more suitable for service industry but SAP is also covering that sector by providing the solutions.

First, We have to think some prerequisite that any company will think before implementiing any ERP solution. Implemented ERP solution will remain for at least 10 years .So, company will think 10 times whether they will implement SAP or ORACLE. Because there are some other points such as license, upgrade are coming up. Now, SAP is an integrated solution directs all kinds of business such as financial, HR, Production Planning, Material procurement and many more. Moreover, it so automated that it fits all kinds business such as small size, mid size or large size and fills the data in the screen that are relevant to the business. Hence, on product performance basis, no doubt, SAP is better than oracle. Moreover, SAP Portal is browser based, so it helps the user to operate the data, thus more user friendly. Finally, if we consider the cost, then SAP is expensive than oracle, but SAP will enable the company to profit more that will cross the barrier of expenditure. Invest more, gain more. Afterall, BEST-RUN BUSINESSES RUN SAP

SAP has mastered Busines process integration and solutioning and they have been quiet spear heading on future business process demands on ERP system pro-actively. These make them a new dimensional runners so they will continue to be the formidable ERP application . well on the flip side if Oracle can build such well integrated system and provide half the price of SAP ..maybe then discussion could take a turn.

I feel Both SAP ERP and Oracel ERP, both have their pros and cons.It depends especially on the Modules in precise.Acc to my opinion, for instance, I feel till yester years Oracle Financials was in good demand, but now even SAP(FICO) is in tough competition with Oracle Financials.Esp for the Modules like SD,MM,PM,PP,etc..companies prefer for SAP.

MR.Radhakrishna, I dont agree, as you are forgetting that SAP's advantage is in building out its own applications as opposed to Oracle's strategy of acquiring to build its applications portfolio. So I can see more clearly where SAP is going.

Obviously Oracle. I dealt with couple of companies from Airlines to till the manufacturing, they are very much interested to go for Oracle. The reason behind it is SOA and specified solutions as Adithya Says. Due to recent recession nobody is interested to go for big software ERP implementation. I will tell you one example, I approach a big company for SAP implementation which is about 100 Licences so it cost around 8Cr, but the same can be implemented by Oracle in 30Lakhs. So Obviously people are preferring Oracle than SAP...see we should understand the user perspective not Technical.

I feel Oracle's workflow and business event system allows companies to
configure business processes in a variety of ways, with the capability
of sending as simple as e-mail notifications and alerts to practically anyone
associated with the organization. SAP does not offer anything that is
equally configurable or flexible.
