I am for an 'Ombudsman' in the area of public media. Vs Creation of an 'Ombudsman' is not all that effective.

At present, we are witnessing an unprecedented deluge of information, 'information explosion' they call it: the newspapers are getting to look like Ph.D.theses, the magazines are more articulate and analytical than ever before and books are so intimidating as to even look at! Add to the print media are the electronic and digital media (T.V., P.C., Mobile, and the Internet revolution). However, all the information that they contain seem more often than not partisan, one-sided and aimed at selling products and services, shoddy though they may be, or capturing and bringing the unsuspecting reader around to the point of view of the writer only! Should there not be strict adherence to truth, great restraint in the language used and all efforts made to present a balanced picture of the events or the situation arising therefrom in the process of dissemination of information? Will tags like 'comment', 'like', 'dislike, 'report abuse', etc., alone help prevent wild claims, allegations, abusive language and so forth? Are the monitoring and censoring agencies really effective in what they do? Or is there a pressing need for an 'Ombudsman' in the area of print, digital / electronic media?

We have to adopt lean 'austerity' measures and cut down heavily on our foreign indebtedness. More 'exports' and less 'imports' may increase our foreign reserves and may strengthen the rupee.
I have always wondered about why the avatar, Krishna, delegated the task of removing evil (represented by the Kauravas) from the face of the earth to the Pandavas instead of doing it himself with the help of his sudarshan chakra!
