Leave alone the developments on the infrastructure front imagine the jobs it has generated. Both full time and part time employement that the F1 has generated. This besides the pride at having hosted an international event. These two factors definitely outweigh all the negatives. Even if for a moment we argue that the money should have been better spent on the poor for example, who benefits - not the poor but the politicians who will swindle all the money in their name. So, it is better of being spent in this manner. At least we can hold our head high when we venture out of the country and can proudly take part in a discussion in any coffee shop around the world on the merits of an F1 race. Its all about having been there and done it !

Pragya there are two sides of a coin. I am of the opinion that this sport brings India to Global Map in a sense lot of people will know about our Country and its culture and will change their outlook towards India.

Thanks for refer Pragya, Can not agree with your viewpoint howsoever best I may try, as fail to figure out who does this infrastructure help in reality......... less than any visible figure of perople. If the technology in road making was going to help anyone build better roads it may still be worth anything but unfortunately that is not anywhere near truth in this case. Mayawati's statues and formula track serve nearly the same cause. There are many more milestones the nation must cover before vying for such a waste,

It is not necessary for India to invest huge money on such project. UP has may other problems to solve on priority basis. I think India no need such project because it is a game of rich people. If they wants to see this game, they can go to western county, because they have money. If Mayavati made this investment towards other sector like road development, Industrialization, Farming, agriculture university, small scall industry, food processing sector, it would been better for UP people. Employment generation is not F1. UP govt. needs to think about their people, why their people leaving their place. They are not getting their family life, continuous hard work. F1 is ok in developed country, not here.
