This is a recent news which I saw in a popular website and where two college students have been flunked for cheating on their written exams, getting zero points for their two courses because they had reportedly been caught exchanging responses during the tests. when the exams were happening teachers didn'tfind enough evidence to nail them but then notably, the determining evidence used in the case came straight from Facebook conversations held by the two students and some of their friends.

The council ultimately determined the conversations on the social network could be used as evidence.

So what do you think guys can someone use facebook or other social netoworking site and take these conversations as evidence to nail the victim?? what are your views on this.

This should be adopted in India also,as insight shows that it's in some foreign country, this Facebook will  give evidence against not less than 25%

Facebook conversations can definitely be used as a very good tool for tracking the guilty of examination cheating. In facebook nobody hides anything and we can get even the secret of all the chats which can be later used as a very good evidence against these type of crimes...

I think  they can use these conversations to nail the victims, if the council has doubts then they can go for these as evidence as the conversations would have happened real time and between both the parties and the things what they have said there might be true, this is where one finds problem like, whether assesing these things for real or not, and not only in this cheating case but in other cases which would have a greater impact, this is a interesting situation and for me its hard to come up like which side to take on as most of the times people on social media will be bluffing of what they do most of the times, how one can consider this as a evidence to nail them is hard to understand...would like to know others view on this one...

I don't think one can use the conversations held in a social media website like facebook as an evidence, i don't know how much personal details will one reveal in sites like facebook, and most of them dont reveal their true identity and in this regard how can one believe whatever they were talking there is true for that matter and not only in this case even in other cases also, as social media sites are a personal medium one can't take these things as evidence and punish them, even if people are talking for just fun and if they are discussing regarding a game like counterstrike, then they will be detained just because they were talking strategies and about weapons...so i don't think this should be used as an evidence...
