The Groups pages on Facebook is such a popular tool for brands to engage with their users is so much so that brands are willing to spend money to advertise their Facebook pages. And there is no point after investing for ads on the group pages and people not following it.

In an attempt to add more value for brands promoting their Facebook Group pages, Facebook had introduced the ‘Subscribe via SMS’ feature on its pages sometime back, but this feature is also now extended to users in India as well. Users may now subscribe to Facebook Groups via SMS from either the Group page or by sending an SMS.

So what do you think people will this help Brands engage more with consumers?

According to me this is a terrific strategy and also makes sense not just for the brands, but for Facebook as well, and this will be opening up a new channel of communication with the consumers via SMS, and not only that but is also adding an additional piece of data about the consumers by having their active mobile number, something that can give Advertisers the  information about their location which can possibly be integrated to their advertising engine for more targeted advertising.

Yes many people do not have internet connectivity continuously and SMS will definetly build brands in social network groups.

Why not ? Indians like to send SMS via internet as much as possible. Indians always look for more and more online SMS websites like "way2sms.com, mobileonline.com etc". This new SMS service also will very soon become very much popular among the users with the help of which organisers definitely will be able to engage the users.

this will also help to reduce several costs on Brand Endorsements thru face value heros/players etc, promotional activities up to certain extent as well cost to wards the Market Research as already available databases of contact details with names and other background..... STP (Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning) can also be improved... Companies will also be able to contact Individual customer...

Looking at the benefits of face book.... they will also be endorsed as get associated with Brands... i.e. Monetary as well Non Monetary benefits.....

Hence for such users to be in touch with their favourite social networking sites through Mobile SMS route is a good alternative.

Adding to it, sms marketing can be targeted only on customer who have shown their willingness towards a particular product. So it could be easy to scale on the nos. of would be customers for the product.
