Social networking site Facebook, which connects old friends and allows users to make new ones online, is being blamed for an increasing number of marital breakdowns, said the telegraph newspaper.

Divorce lawyers claim that the explosion in the popularity of websites such as Facebook and many others is tempting to people to cheat on their partners. One law firm, which specializes in divorce, claimed almost one in five petitions they processed cited Facebook.

Suspicious spouses have also used the websites to find evidence of flirting and even affairs which have led to divorce. It is said that, there were a lot of people saying they had found out things about their partners on Facebook and it is a lot prevalent these days as many petitions these days had references of Facebook. The most common reason seemed to be people having inappropriate sexual chats with people they were not supposed to. Flirty emails and messages found on Facebook pages are increasingly being cited as evidence of unreasonable behaviour. What do you think people,  Should we blame social networks for increased divorce rates?  Share your views on this.

Trwoing desires in the form of word on any social network may cause of this act...it looses the faith between couples....this happens because they are not satisfied with their current life and have a doubt on each others for their way of life...

Thank god Toostep is not being used for this purpose.

I don't think we should blame facebook or anyother social networking site for increase in divorce rates, as people are conscious of what they are doing on these sites, if they really want to cheat on their loved ones, then they know what they are heading upto and inturn will be knowing the consequences of it, so it is completely dependent on one like how one should use these social networks, just because you can connect with so many people doesn't mean that one is cheating, I think marriage is a special bond, here love should rule the relationship and not doubt, so I don't see blaming social networking is right here, may be people are to be blamed here, who are using these social networks for wrong reasons.

I don't completely believe that social netw sites are responsible but it is true people flirt on such sites.

Networking sites are used by people to do something that they can't do directly.

I really hate such people who flirt on sites and show a decent face elsewhere.

I just feel they are cowards.

I would not completely agree with Kavitha here, there are many who use these social networking sites for all the wrong purpose, and as social networking is gaining momentum we are just seeing the after effects of it, as with so much socialising people have way too many options interms of who they really want too see on social networks and many people who have serious doubts about their spouses with their behaviour will check their profiles, and this is creating a rift between the couples, and are eventually leading to divorce., so I would infact agree that social networking has increased divorce rates.

Friends it depends upon one's strength of character or mind. I do agree certain people are trapped which shows their weakness. People know what is right and wrong. While looking into these sites they should be very careful in not spoiling their life. It would be better to create some sort of awareness. Sometimes people are trapped due to their curiosity without knowing what would happen.

All people need to introspect how they like to see themselves in the society, Facebook cannt make anyone's life miserable or happier...

Everything written on Walls can not reflect true values of any person, so Facebook is not a right channel to gadge values of a person, at the same time people should restrain themselves from revealiing personal information on internet

To understand this people should be educated and exposed to evils, as there is no Moral Police at facebook

Hi sunil I agree with you there may be many reasons for getting divorced and we cannot blame social networking. According to me social networking sites nowadays are helping to build good relationships. It is people who utilize it for wrong activities and blaming the site is of no use. So facebook is no way related to divorce.

Thanks :)

Divorce is based on the breach of trust and confidence. Social Networking sites may play a role in knowing each other hidden story but can't be fully responsible for the action. It is a media of communication and knowing each others better. It is used for betterment max.

i dont think that the social networking websites just effect people that they just start to even get to the point of divorce. if two persons are chatting also, their is a limit to all , any one can oppose and the chat can be stopped there. only if we entertain the other person,  he will continue to chat or flirt . it can be done for fun but it should end there.

The people should actually understand the importance of marriage in life. The two partners should have a bond of love between them . if that exists, no one will go behind no person.

Facebook or any other social websites cannot be blamed for increased divorce rates. This has to do with the individuals themselves. However, it is true that people do flirt on social websites but it is hard to say if any of this is serious or is merely for fun.

you can't blame anybody or a group or network for a wrong done by a matured man or woman. Social networks have a different and great objective of creating a global village on the web. But, like everywhere, there are some people who look for clues to use the networks for the ill things. It is their attitude. Even if you offer them a great thing, they will find a clue to realise their ill wishes.

you can't b;ame anybody or a network for one's attitude. It's the man or the attitude to be blamed instead of the networked that is wrongly used by a few to realise their ill wishes.

Well, though i have said no, there is also a possibility. But what i think is that if facebook or any other social sites are used in a proper way, there is nothing to worry.
