It is said that Facebook will now be coming out with the option of "Comment via Email" where people can comment to the messages on their status or on their own profile, no need to login to Facebook you can do that on your mail itself & this has become an Indispensable utility for office goers and others to stay alert about their Facebook profile activity,

And many earlier thought that e -mail will become obsolete in few years time and mostly so due to launch of products like Wave from Google’s fold. But now it seems Facebook has retracted to those theories by making e-mail the secondary powerhouse of Facebook interactions through its latest feature allowing users to comment via e-mail.  What do you think guys, will this increase interactions on Facebook? share your views.

I want to support this.Actually it has a two way communication because suppose if i have signedup in facebook via Gmail-id and if i get the message or comment in facebook then i will also get a message in Gmail corresponding the message or comment in Facebook.I would like this because i don't want to login in facebook everytime for checking the message and reply for the comment but i would like to check my mail in Gmail everytime.Everyone checks his/her mail daily. So if i get the message/comment from facebook in gmail so i would want to reply from gmail itself. These are valid for those unlucky facebook users who have not so much friends in their friendlist and not get the message/comment every minute.Otherwise after replying for only one message/two message he/she has to logoff.Somehow if i know that there are few  friends online in facebook at particular time then i would like to login otherwise i can reply via mail.Facebook developers can think of that idea for displaying the online friends of facebook in Gmail/Yahoomail/..../ .

I don't think this will improve interactions among facebook users, as the main thing which makes people login to facebook other than messages is the apps, and both were complementing eachother and now if one is made to reply back through mail itself, I don't see the contributions increasing infact it will reduce according to me and it will reduce the traffic for Facebook May be this email notification will be an indispensable utility for office-goers and others to stay alert about their facebook profile activity. as in many places visiting social networking sites will be banned so this will help them.

It will, because if he/she doesn’t have the time then they won’t login to face book, but if they are getting the option to be in touch with face book users and frnds via email which they daily use. Then it will hold good and better to save the time also....just only to save the time they ay use "Comment via email"

One may welcome anything new and offered as additional feature that too in case of Facebook. This new feature in Facebook may make the social site more convenient and user-friendly. Welcome and we may soon be accostomed to it.

If I can respond to debates without going through the tedious web based login protocols, i think it is definitely more attractive. i for one support this change. I do nopt normally get involved in social networking sites but if one can be part of the give and take of constructive debate, without going through the other aspects, it is definitely worth it.

Now population is increasing on facebook...hence it is required to have this feature..otherwise people depend on the yahoo, gmail etc for private opinion/ information  sharing.

Its good and ofcourse traffic on gmail and yahoo will be reduced substantially.

I'd say the response to alerts from Facebook would increase for at times one is too busy so rather would simply reply to the alert at hand rather than wait for time to login and reply.

Besides the more convenient it becomes for a user to use a system/application/site it makes it more accessible and popular. Yes the traffic to the site may fall a bit but over a period of time it would be more beneficial for the site.

I agree with what sivakrishna said and like to throw some light to it. The reason why it will not increase because facebook does not only have comments it has many other features for which we need to log into facebook. If people start replying through mail then other features will be of no use and I don't think it will be interesting to reply through  mail.

This means that one has to just add friends in facebook and can do the interaction thru mails, instead of this people can directly interact thru their mails.i dont think there will be decline in the logging in users for facebook.  most of the users log on to facebook for  fun and its apps.

Yup, even i would say replying merely thru email would not be encouraged or used to that extent as been mentioned. People use this more as social site than professional. And therefore, i feel email would not play a vital role using Facebook. .. .Thank you, Manish N

Cheers!!

i also agree that it will increase the interaction and is well to be that we supposed not to login.but the problem is security may arise so that unwanted users can respond through mail and gain our information which personal upto that person. so privacy is more important than the easy way of accessing the facebook.

Agreed Sonam.

In fact I am against using cell phones as a tool for social networking that too via sms. I think its too time consuming, it will actually hamper people's functionality and would have more people where their workplace has the social networks blocked hooked via phones to these sites. I am not for this kind of cell phone usage at all!!

Thanks for the referral Sonam :)

It defeats the purpose. Besides, I think facebook is just cutting its own feet by adding every possible functionality at the cost of usability. With so many things thrown at the user, nothing is used properly.

This will be one more feature that will be added to the ongoing mess.
