Did you know that Facebook is worth more than Research in Motion, Starbucks, Dell, Yahoo, Adobe, Intuit or eBay? That’s according to a wide variety of investments and valuations that have shot Facebook’s stock into the stratosphere..

Facebook’s (Facebook) actual value depends on who you ask, though. Forbes thinks it’s worth $23 billion. SharesPost pins its value at $26.3 billion. And finally, The Financial Times says it’s a $33 billion company. But Facebook valuations in 2009 was 3 billion approximately and in 2010 it tripled to 9 billion , and now again it has tripled to 33 billion dollars.

But will they be able to catch up the valuation of Google which is $165 billion??

While Facebook still has a ways to go before it surpasses Google (Google), Microsoft or Apple, it does beat or even dwarf some of the world’s most iconic companies. Facebook has just 1500 employees, whereas others have more than 100,000 employees like, starbucks...

Facebook is benefiting greatly from both hype and high expectations for its future ability to generate revenue and dominate markets. There are legitimate reasons for the optimism and high valuation, though: it has more than 500 million users, rapid growth and Silicon Valley’s best and brightest talent. It would be silly not to applaud Facebook for everything it has done, and all signs point to its value continuing to go north, not south.

No!

A fundamental difference is, diversified contents.  Google has lot more to offer, while facebook is limited to networking.

But yes number of user-wise it may overtake to Google, as fB is done lots of integration with mobile phone manufacturers, which gives default advantage to fB.

Facebook is here to stay. Pls dont compare it to Google, its an extraordinary  search engine and so many things around it. Facebook has revolutionized social networking. Who thought one could make money from a boring game like Farmville? Its possible on Facebook.

By the way, FB is expanding in a big way. Whats more, its going to start office in Hyderabad too. Check out http://www.facebook.com/careers/#!/careers/?view=location

Facebook has a long way to go before it can challenge Google. Additionally, the number of users of Facebook (currently around 500 million) is increasing at a very fast pace. Thus, its valuation may rise further in the future.

However, a lot of things can change in the future. Facebook is already facing issues regarding security and privacy. New competitors may arise or technology change can happen in the future.

Hence, it may be a bit early to compare the market valuation of Facebook with Google. It may be considered a dark horse candidate to challenge Google if it sustains its momentum over a period of time.....

not at all, as facebook is a social networking site so it is limited regarding information though they have made many changes and added many attributes and many more to come but they cannot compete Google as the reach and features , business tie-ups and many other factors makes Google far ahead
