This opinion is for supporting BOTH female and male managers doing their jobs. In fact, my opinion could be posted under (male) or (female).
Biologically, females have an anatomical advantage. Technically, there should be no difference between males and females. The bottom line is for the job to be done efficiently.
So, let us concentrate on doing our jobs without distracting ourselves about the gender of the boss.

Never had an opportunity to work under female boss, but from the experience of working with female co-workers I feel
1. females are more detail oriented and males look into the big picture.
2. Females do not take any quick decision they prefer to go slow but steady where as males try to get things fast (so mistakes made by males are generally more due to carelessness).
3. Females face more difficulty to keep their office life and personal life separate.

According to survey report it's seems more people prefer a HE boss over a SHE boss.

Too generic a topic to discuss: Service Sector - Banking, Health, Hospitality, Research and Development - Female Boss is okay Manufacturing segment - Heavy Industries, automobile, aviation sectors, etc. - Male Boss is required. Pharma, Medical, Bio-medical, Bio-technology, R&D etc. - both genders should be accepted. After all, one should bear in mind that the excellence should not have gender bias. Every woman boss at that level is required to go an "Extra Mile" in comparison to Male boss, for they are imbued with enormous talent, emotion, empathy and at times pretends to be tough task-masters, yet soft within!

They are more organised...mostly non-interfering...and those (ladies/females) who got the chance to become a boss...they are definitely the best of the lot...

female bosses are more shrewd than male bosses. They also derive an advantage of being the good task master. They can most of the time convince the co-workers even by the slightest of words and action.

Two words : Manager and Boss have no gender tag attached. What does it mean ? "Sex" does not matter. Only question arises :-

--  Whether good boss or not ( in generally accepted norms )

--  Whether good Manager or not

Are we trying to create a discrimination here?  I report to a male boss, my subordinates report to me, a female. There are certain qualities that a subordinate wishes to see in his / her boss, and I don’t think the sex, race or religion or any demographic aspects have a bearing on the preference over Boss. I am with Ahmed neither in favour of the two.  I think Toostep designers have to think of adding one more option for the participants to cast NEUTRAL vote, to make the voting exercise effective and accurate.

i also support to your point since gender is not a criteria at all. The boss should be one who is capable, in every means . The capability of a male boss cannot be found in a female boss and vice versa. there has to be a rating done between both regarding the capabilities and then the appropriate person must be chosen.

Depends on the ideas working out in a persons mind and how he implements among his subordinates to achieve the goal.

Hi All

In today’s world the boss have to be genderless. It does not matter whether it is male or female. They need to have these traits. I had fair amount of bosses in my career both male and female. For me it was tough initially but once we are used to the changes it does not matter.

Boss

- being action oriented and analytical; but also strongly demonstrate strong feminine values and behaviors, such as nurturing, collaboration, and holistic thinking.

- Speaking and Paradoxical ways–these bosses are consistently tough and empathic, flexible and orderly, patient and timely, diplomatic and candid, competitive and collaborative.

- Community builders-promote interactive leadership; create a strategy to bring people together, believing that organizations without weaving unravel into dysfunction. These leaders believe power is to be shared.

- Holistic thinkers-are adept at building trust, and understand it to be a key element for creating a productive and creative culture. They see beyond the obvious and connect the dots between important issues.

-Relational intelligence-they hold themselves and others to high ethical standards, and believe the integrity of relationship is paramount. Demonstrate relational intelligence by being sensitive to context, expert at clarifying issues, but willing to be confrontational and compassionate as necessary.

I am fully supporting the concept of Mr. Ahmed. The gender is not at all a criteria, I have worked with both the gender and both has their own merits and demerits based on the personality traits and nothing I  could figure out based on their gender.

Females are considered as "Office moms". So, to work under them and the support provided by them is very high.

Though this does not mean that I support gender bias, I feel that men were made more as protector and bread earners and women as home makers. And with this logic, women seem ill-fit to cope up with the pressures and indulges in politics through emotionalism and unnecessary melodrama to promote themselves. While on the other hand men work their way up hard and smart way up. I have had this experience and hence my vote for male as the boss.

there is no meaning in asking who is "better" because, irrespective of gender it is the demand of the position of which is handled.autocracy to some extent is inherited in males rather than females.woman may handle situations well but not always.but let us not forget that woman has got a lot of biological advantage that there will be minimum arguments at workplace especially by male subordinates for various reasons.i prefer a male boss.

Yes as there are very less number of Female bosses around, might be for a reason, i have to agree with Diptanjan's comment, as i had no chance to work under a female boss, as all of the bosses i have come across are Male. Male bosses are better.

Specially to work in a competitive environment nobody needs moms at office. Male bosses are held to a lower emotional standard. And also employees don't evaluate male managers on their ability to read facial expression or sense tones of voice.

And there are only few female bosses that are actually counted by people. And the number of males are more. People holding the top position out of them 70% are males.

I think males are better because according to a survey done by MSNBC.com and Elle magazine it says that three out of four women who expressed a preference said they would rather work for a man than a woman. So, in my opinion males are better boss.
