Closure of Business: can never be a reason, and if it is a reason, the company is inefficient to perform the roles it has to ... and hence closure of business... not in the case of the company in which I am working or my previous company... no matter... what ever it may be...

it is the company who told that your skills are suitable for us and so we are recruiting you.. cannot say that due to the inefficiencies of the company to not to get work is reducing the employees of the company.

This obviously raises two pertinent questions.

1.  Is the company inefficient to withstand the market conditions?

2. Does the today's management says that yesterdays management is not good enough to recruit the right person.  and if this is the case, can a management speak against itself...?

It is really very bad for any employee when he is suddenly asked to leave the organisation. In today's date, getting a job is not so easy. The employee, may have dependants on him. So, its bad for him to get sacked from his job if he has no other option......

From the Organizations point of reasoning, yes its a right thing to do. The reasons might include non performance, closure of a business division or a segment, duplication of skills across the resources etc. Whatever might be the case its always a good practice if the same is communicated to the employee and allowing him to serve a notice period will help him/her to find a job with all the confidence

If an employee is performing well, why would any employer sack him? Normally only those employees get sacked away who don't perform well in an organisation...

It seems gross injustice to an emplyee who is asked to leave may be through mails, notice or any other means. If the same has to be done it must be done in close room where you dont find any subordinate and company officals which otherwise seems quite irritating and embarrassing.

It should be given a second thought. May be the employer is right in every sense but still it needs some privacy and closed room operation, if I am not wrong to avoid any feeling within which may lead to graet frustration or even depression
