Ford India, is looking to introduce its Eco-Boost engine technology in its new cars that the company claims will raise fuel mileage by 20%.  Eco-Boost engine uses gasoline turbocharged direct-injection technology. Ford claims the new engine also lowers carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 15% compared to the conventional petrol and diesel engines . Should the automobile manufacturing industry head into this direction?

The eco- boost technology provides what Indian customers need. If the cost aspect is taken care of then it might do good for FORD in India ( especially for its small car)

Ford's Eco-boost engine idea is good but it is not that all manufactures should head into that direction. Since it has not yet launched, we may not know how efficient and economical it will be. And the Eco-boost engine is very expensive compared to the petrol & diesel engine so it will take time to hit the market.

Its very good for India in order to use ECO-BOOSt system in Indian car because its first advantage is its emission reduction and implementing EURO -5 norms in India.

Surely automobile industry head into this direction. Its cars are raising fuel mileage by 20%, Using gasoline turbocharged direct-injection technology, Engine also lowering carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 15% compared to the conventional petrol and diesel engines. What more do we need? This is beneficial for users from economic point also and environment also...

Its great to hear that Ford is coming up with Eco-boost engines. Definitely the Eco-boost technology helps us to reduces the emission of CO2 and also increases the mileage. It will be great if other engine manufactures also adopt this technology, because this will lead to an Eco friendly environment.

I partially agree with this technology when compared to electric power technologies. We have to wait for a while that how it succeds in near future.we have to wait and see the % of Pollutants get reduced such as CO & NOx.

I have a question that there is any limitations of speed as simillar to electric cars. If so there will not be thrill in driving....

could any one please explain the ECO-boost technology....

The Eco-Boost system  good for enviroment. But its so expensive compare to other system. The ford plan the small car because of the competator, exspecially the cost wise.then how they implement the Eco - boost system in a small car for the minimum price.Generally middle class people like the small car with lowest price. So the Price of the car is main contribution for indian marketing.
