Kapil Sibbal today announced a historic step for free and compulsory education for all for age group 6-14 under 'Right to Education Act' ...

According to me, it was long overdue and the Minister has taken a very wise & path-breaking decision ...

Although, the first step is taken ... Do you think it will translate into action easily at ground level or no and what actions need to be taken for its easy implementation ...?

Yes ... we need to be optimistic and whole-heartedly support the minister in implementing the decision at society, village, panchayat and every level ... All NGO's, educational organizations, schools - private & government and concerned citizens must come forward to support and implement by taking suitable actions !

Let us strengthen the hands of the minister ...

It is as simple as school uniform which was meant to to eliminate the difference between haves and havenots. The present education system is mostly pprofit driven and the needy are denied the best of the education. Government has taken a right step to force all schools to take care of the poor.

The irony is that most private schools are run under the guise of society/trust which are public bodies and government should take over them if it receives complaints of profiteering and the caretakers of these public charitable trusts found siphoning of money.

Hope in the new bill there is a provision for government to takeover these public charitable bodies on any misdeeds.

Government should continue to invest in schools/colleges/universities to offer affordable education to needy. This should act as a balancing power and never should be privatised fully.

We have seen the benefits of public sector co-presence in the banks/telecom which has given more choice to us and kept the costs lower. There should not be any 100% space for private only sector and we should welcome competition from government sector.

It is really good to know that such an act which has been in discussions only from a long time is finally put into place for implementation. But its success would depend only on the execution/implementation and it is time that some steps should be put forward to ensure that it is implemented properly and followed by each and every individual. Also it become the duty of us as citizens of India to ensure that we are following it and not depriving any child b/w 6-14 years of age of the education. Also we need to make sure implementation of programs like run by Times Of India: Teach India on a continuous basis rather than for a short period of time and also NGOs & Schools to come forward and take initiatives.

It's a great move by the Government. Support this issue at all levels.
It would be nice if all organizations and institutions accept  to teach children for free.

Yes, indeed a very wise & long needed move.

Lets hope that the State Governments who are responsible for the implementation of the policy at the ground level and the Central Govt. would really able to implement this policy in letter & spirit to reach the education to one and all.
