Ya Free Home Delivery is Marketing tactic where a customer thinks that its a free. But only few knows the real free goes to the Supplier. In case of free home delivery of medicines no one can predict the prices of that particular tablets, capsules or tonics. There the good Supplier earns and compromising the customer with free home delivery. So in the case of free delivery the customer dont know and care about the prices of medicines. Here, If you are a Supplier, you gain where as if you are a buyer, you loss.

Free home delivery- still one the best marketing tactics? Yes I agree with this argument, free home delivery system should be common for a consumer, off remote time we had a long list of material which had to be taken us from market, then the some problems are too created one is to convey up to the home, on foot or by a hired vehicle, which may be caused also so costly for a person, heavy burden of luggage and fair of vehicle lifting a heavy weight of this luggage. That is to say free home delivery is best marketing for consumer and merchant both, because merchant may charge extra for delivery that is unknown for consumer, but merchant already adjust this charge, that is not showed in front of consumer.

Free Home Delivery is the best Marketing strategies of today's fast moving world. No body is having time to go to the market and do the shopping. But one thing, Everybody likes to go out and eat because they derive enjoyment and at the same time they do shopping, Shopping is also enjoyable experience. I strongly feel that Home delivery (Any item) sometimes lacks quality, we will not be having choice of what we want and so many other factors come in to play. So, my dear folks I strongly say 'NO' to Free Home Delivery.

Yes it is purely a marketing tactics. All the Big companies are running behind the free home delivery. Where the customer could not able to assess the quality and genuineness.Almost the customer himself loosing his freedom to select the one at his best option. And he is unable to inquire the real cost of the material.

Mr. Pradeep Saran, I agree with your anguish over Home delivery. But, Home delivery as tool to improve Customer service & Business in total, has much to offer. What described here shows, a poor infrastructure for Home delivery & poor sales. Many be attributed to scanty number of Couriers, no provision of commutation, pay & perks for individuals.etc . When they want to have a ,good Home delivery, they need to have an efficient service(including infrastructure). But, Home delivery as a business tactics does offer a good business promotion.

Sorry Malika, Many a business does well on free-delivery. It is not a status symbol there are various factors such as the time availability, no helping hand at home, distance and traffic, price of the piece etc considered. In order to make it qualitative and quantitative better pack-it-up in well designed sizes. Home delivery of Household items such as Refrigerators, Washing machine, wooden/steel cot etc are, always, most welcome. Not merely , some companies are doing free delivery but also, a free installation & repair services at call. I know a company here, they deliver item, even if you order at 2 AM. morning. They do maintain a free separate tele-line for such services. It is a very good customer service. It can be done on-line, or through mobile/telephone, or even through FB if they have one.

This (FREE HOME DELIVERY) certainly is one of the highly effective marketing tool, if not the MOST. You mentioned about corner grocery stores, Malika, but with modern retail entering in a big way even the corner stores have improved highly. Touch & feel are important in sales of many a things but to carry that same thing with you after you've bought it is certainly a PAIN. And what better way that FREE HOME DELIVERY to get rid of it. Closely looking at the convenience it brings along, no wonder the entire trade - modern or traditional - have been laying HIGH emphasis on it and the sign of FREE HOME DELIVERY is splashed all over.

In the busy life, IÂ consider the free home delivery is still a good marketing tactics. I give below some example: 1. Domino V/s McDonald - Childern likes both the stuff but most of the time we call Dominos over McDonal burger due to free home delivery. 2. Reliance Fresh V/s Kirana Shop - Reliance fresh initially was not having the concept of free home delivery. Due to this reason they could not properly compete with the local kirana shop. Even there are some vegetable vendors who offers free home delivery so most of the people have preferred those vegetable vendors over Reliance Fresh. 3. The business of various VCD renting companies are on the premises of free home delivery only. There are many more example. So I consider free home delivery is definately a good marketing tactics. NOW THIS SHOULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH CREDIT CARD PAYMENT TOO WITH GPRS BASED HANDHELD TERMINAL.

More than tactics, it is necessary for present day social structure. We are spending a hectic life, where there is no time to stand and stare. Home delivery sort out many problems, when both husband and wife are office goers or old parents living alone as their children settled abroad, or to bring bulk groceries in an auto, for which auto driver demand more and create annoyance. We need not look everything from marketing point of view. Now business became competitive, so cheating the public is very rare and public are prudent about their consumer rights. Â

FREE HOME DELIVERY MAY BE HARMFUL FOR AN UPRIGHT MERCHANT ,WHO DOES NOT ADJUST EXTRA CHARGE OF HOME DELIVERY,BECAUSE OF HAVING AN UPRIGHT PERSON MERCHANT BEARS THE BURDEN OF HOME DELIVERY ONLY TO ESTABLISH HIS NEW MARKETING ,AFTER A SHORT WHILE HIDDEN FEATURE OF SUCH MERCHANT MAY COME IN FRONT OF CONSUMER.IT IS DECIDED FREE HOME DELIVERY STILL ONE THE BEST MARKETINGÂ FOR BOTH MERCHANT AND CONSUMER.

In the US and other developed western countries home delivery is very common and convenient. It is necessary that the suppliers observe ethics and maintain product quality and delivery schedule. Suppliers in India tend to exploit the consumer for home delivery and consider themselves as doing favours to the customer. They also show little consideration for ensuring delivery of the right product at the right time. Even for ensuring a courier delivery one has to wait at home for 2 or 3 days to receive the package. I have personally seen a courier delivering a packet to me which had the same house number as mine but of a different location and name in the same city. Imagine what would the poor consumer have suffered if I had accepted the package or if some servant in my house had accepted it out of ignorance. As a good citizen I would have to run on my car to the courier's office spending at least a litre of petrol and 2hrs of my time. In the US they leave the packets at the door and no one touches it. The product is delivered on a preset time. The return policy is also meticulously followed in the West. In India it is very difficult to return a defective or wrong product after delivery. The pricing policy in India for home delivery is rigid and not adjusted to short term market fluctuations. A home delivery vegetable supply failed in Lucknow in a couple of months because they could not match their prices with the daily market rates, could not deliver at a pre-determined time, could not accept additions or changes to requirements and could not display the product available.
