Satrajit Moitra in New Delhi

From Swiss luxury giant Mont Blanc to Bollywood blockbuster 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of peace and non-violence, has now become a brand the world proudly flaunts.

To commemorate Gandhi's historic salt march in 1930, Mont Blanc recently unveiled an 18-carat gold nib plated with rhodium pen which costs Rs 14 lakh (Rs 1.4 million) -- making the Mahatma their brand ambassador

Passion - My goodness me we either got to redefine the term or restudy Gandhi and what he stood for. At least by what tamasha we saw in recent pass in name of Gandhi's way to get ones way thorugh.

Agree with the observation of Sarika. But the popping up of the name of Firoz Gandhi is in bad state. Why personalize the debate & make it another case of mud-slinging. By the way, permit me to point out a correction. Feeroz Gandhi was not Firoz Khan. He is a Parsi.

Gandhiji have lost the place that he deserved in the heart of every indian. He s only remembered and used when it can be used for an advantage. The man who shook the enemy with non violence n peace is being used only for selfish reasons

Gandhiji was half naked, you know. Similarly, a pen can also make people naked, by revealing many unknown/known facts. So, Mont Blanc has done a correct and sensible thing?!.

I agree with you Mr. Davison, starting with Firoz Khan(Husband of Indira Gandhi who became Firoz Gandhi) till date, many politicians of modern age, even many so called "social workers" are keeping the name "Gandhi" to keep a clean and respectful image in the eyes of common public. I doubt how many of them actually follow the principles of Gandhiji!!!

Who is passionate about "Gandhi" these days particularly in India. We are conveniently forgetting the great personality. Some people of this land are not ready to accept him as "father of the nation", some have their objections about Gandhiji, some finds dignity in criticising the great soul. New age mahatmas are emerging here and there ( apparently we never/little heard of these new emerging mahatmas).
