The major reason for the success of MK Gandhi (and perhaps in the USA Martin Luther King) was that the difference between his talk and his walk was vert minute.

Most of us have a wide gap between our talk and our walk. One of the more classic jokes of Management is the boss telling his junior :: "Do as I say and not as I do".

If we are to reduce the gap between our talk and our walk it would mean a lot of more introspection, less talk and more walk. By doing this we may not become as "great" as Gandhi or King, but we can become better persons, and this will make the environment around us better.

Slowly, this will envelope a large number of people, with our actions embraced

It is a tremendously difficult job to do. But if you can conquer your senses and control your ego it will not be too difficult a task

Yes Mr.Srinivas, everybody has two sides of talking something and doing something else. It needs a lot mind/mental maturity to talk and do the same thing. One should not be a slave for his desire. Desires should have control to practice on implementing what is told or talked.

According to Louis Fischer, "To Gandhi, selfless service did not mean the sacrifice of part of one's assets; it required the investment of all of one's being. A dedicated person could not belong to wife or children, for if he did, then they and not the work would be the first consideration. To lead others he had to be immune to all temptations and in command of all his desire".

Both the options translate into the same meaning. Why this debate at all when there is no choice?

Start at home first. You emotionally blackmail your spouse into doing something that has to be naturally done by him/her. Is it not a form of corruption? You tell your offspring if you get >97%, I will buy you a laptop. Another form of corruption?
