It is about creating the global choice for the global citizens. But there is a problem, the cars with low mileage will increase the oil import burden on India. We have money but natural resources are not created by money. Definitely, this might happen in the long run.

Having followed cars ever since I could identify the difference between the letter A and B , its quite clear to me that had there not been globalisation , we would still have been driving pre-historic cars aka Landmaster . In addition to that when infrastructure improves , similar pace of growth has to be followed in all the sectors in order to utilize the investment made. Considering the Automotive scene prior to 1990 , Its a welcome change. Thanks to Maruti 1000(1990) and Tata Mobile (1989) Sierra/Estate. These products just stormed the market , followed by Daewoo's Entry . When I started reading about cars at the age of 7 , its was India Car which had mentioned about Eddy - the electric car company from Coimbatore. At that moment there were hardly 40 varieties to choose from put together every variant of a company had on offer and now we have from Nana all the way to Bugatti Veyron off the shelf provided we have the Vitamin M. Like someone had mentioned about dumping cars , they should pay a visit Pakistan. In a market which is developing , the car manufacturers should get returns. At one point they were not making it so they had to do the dumping and now India is turning into a mature market with annual passenger car sales of nearly 2 million units. Ford Figo was primarily developed for Indian market. This phenomenon I believe applies for every sector.

Yes, going for global brands is a good sign.Globalisation is happening in every aspect. In one the competetion among the car manufacturers is good for the customers. At the same the car manufacturers should customise the cars to suit the indian conditions. Over a period the global brand will become an indigenous/local and again it will be ready to export/global like maruti.

Global cars are good for any nation, But indegeniously developed ones should not lose importance in the craze for the golbal ones. Global ones should be prefereed to develop the indegenious ones to the global level. Further the Indian roads and its very infrastrucuture needs to be improved a lot to measure the suitability of Global Car to an Indian Road.

Global Competition is always good for the growth of industries, particularly from the consumer point of view. New cars will bring new technology with them, which is obviously a boon.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Manoj Kumar. I will accept with you. Normally we Indians have the mentality of buying foreign goods and they consider as a symbol of status in the society. NOW this is the time for our indigenous car manufacturers to think & manufacture at par with global producers of cars.
