I totally deny this fact because good looks provides more oppertunities to women. There are many sectors which are totally dependent on looks of women.and in corporates looks gives u more opprtunities to explore your career.

All jobs are open to women, but some jobs are actually open to good looking, or should I say sexy women...because for jobs like those listed by sheetal, good looking women may actually instigate violence/ harassment in an industry dominated by males...However R&D jobs can be given to women since these jobs now have equal employment opportunities with a focus on a better tomorrow...On the whole, we must be proud that most of the industries have started hiring more females to increase productivity amongst men but still need to address some grey areas like sexual harassment at work place or otherwise, to really encourage 'sexy' women to be prominently working with men - after all behind every sucessful man lies a woman...even at office!

Yes Sometimes it depends on the nature of Organisations, and also on HR policies they follow (i.e. Too much of Grapewine is BAD), IF the organisations really look for the achievements & rewards on the CV V/S personal taits of the candidate, then there should not be any problem, but as you know human beings are weak at time so it may be difficult for a good looking candidate to find a job and sustain inspit of her hardwork,

Well appearance does matter as the first impression is the best impression but if the company or firm is looking for tapping knowledge and good skills then they will obviously have a channel of selecting potential candidates than just going by the appearance ...

I would also like to add few more points here, as I said, today good-looks are not paid much importance, but on the contrary few years back it was. Good looks were influential at one time, and so awareness for GOOD LOOKS increased.Today via beauty treatment/therapy/surgery people are gaining the desired shape and size along with the complexion of their skin. Thus today we see really good looking people around Us. But being so beautiful they also become more concern about their looks or to say more possessive for their looks. They want to maintain their beauty. Thus while recruitment for the job, specially which directly expose the employee to hazardous environment which directly affects their appearance and also where lots of labors/unskilled workers are present, beautiful women are not selected for 2 major reasons, first is "they would be more conscious about their looks and health" second is " they would attract the workers and divert their mind from their jobs". Both the reasons lead to low productivity and quality, thus gr8 loss to the company. So they are not considered suitable for such kind of jobs.

"No" Just good looks doesn't help to get a job. One has to be smart and intellectual to get it. As far as women are concerned most of the time their looks make a differences depending on the requirement of the Job. BUT Here I am trying to raise a point that in present timing anyone can get a pleasing appearance just by spending some money in Beauty parlors. Thus when we have a big pool of Good looking girls, it becomes difficult to judge the actual potential and skills among them and select the Right person. That time recruiters go for other parameters like Qualification, aptitude, IQ,and other skills which most of the good looking women lacks, as they give less importance to those over their own appearance. And in this case It gets difficult for Good Looking Women to get a Job,specially which requires intellect and skills. Thus they should be equally concerned about their potential and talent along with the appearance and personality. they must have groomed personality to get a Job.

Looks need not necessarily be an evaluating factor. Qualifications, skills, expertise, adaptability etc etc are the key factors.Selection process and performance evaluation need N O T get stuck-up at GOOD LOOKS.It makes no difference whether it is man or woman.

I can say it's very true. As a professional and still looking good, turning back my native country, I had same ideas as you presented. More over, being an Operational Safety Engineer in one of the biggest site- construction the problem was solved just in the manner that I quit it and I made my own company to be able to work with no pbs. Now I am co-owner of an important consultancy company and I am happy that I can make my profession well, having full wings to develop my own carrier and also my skills.

It should not be generalised.. Women who are too hot, can create a bit of distraction in the work space... but at the same time can create a feel good atmosphrere if the lady is outgoing and is at ease in being friends with others.. Though it should be choice to women as where they should work, I would prefer such smart good looking ladies to add more value in customer facing positions..

I don't really think if the woman is good looking she will be restricted from any job. May be there are exceptional cases as you have mentioned where the authority is uneducated to see woman as an entity in organizations development. But there are chances for good woman to get promotions and hikes for their looks, but that is also a rare case. At the end what would be valued are Presentation power and Talent. Its not the physical attribute per se, it's the bias and prejudice that goes wid it. Many ppl think that ugly ppl are brainier, these r all stupid concepts. If ur not good looking u r not taking care of yourself, that's what it means!!!Coz u have a low opinion of ur being, that sucks!!!Good looking ppl find it hard to deal wid adulation, stickers on and pile on ppl. Also, they invite jelaousy in that theyre tested beyond their means to prove their mettle!!!

looks doesn't have anything to do.......it's your work which will sustain to prove you ability.........only looks means there are so many companies which works on beauty products. Based on education, knowledge and how capably you can tackle the problem professionally .As you know ,One mistake in male dominated field within know time u will be on ride ,so here more than looks it’s your ability to carry yourself creating a controlled environment. How well you can solve the problem professionally and come out successfully……………………is the answer…………..so I think by now u can judge the situation. looks doesn’t matter here

Good looking girls are placed at the interface of a business. They are like a decorative attractive gift wrapper, wrapped over the business box. The more the number of such girls placed at the interface, the more money you grab! ( A very nice example are the female counsellers in Multinational Education Institutes. They are well trained to bring business from the teenaged males in their own way. You know which way :) )

You should be kidding! Most of the front-office, PR, marketing, call center, IT .... jobs are for women - majority for good looking. But a woman herself is good - either outwardly or inwardly or both. So why this absurd question?

There are lots of examples where a good looking girl having a little bit of skills have been hired against a skilled but having an ugly face. I feel very pity against those "ugly" HRs having this weird technique of hiring where face has more preference than skills.

The fact in most cases is that between 2 worthy candidates on nearly the same level of proficiency, the better looking one bags the position. This is also done in a healthy way to brighten up the work environment. It is always good to have some decent & within the limits - eye-candy. Then the matter also becomes very subjective w.r.t. the fields in discussion...... there are some areas which require good looks & some where it is not an important factor.

NO.. Ofcourse not..!! If you have talent you will get the job this is fact. Inc case girls (in General) it is lil' difficult inc case of shift timings. Parents may oppose her for the night shift. But looks doesnt matter in thsi case. Yes it matters when the job is of PR/ Receptionist or the Front End designation.B'coz @ that time HR or rather company wants attractive candidates to impress their clients and get work done easily.

I think it depends on the function for which the lady applies for. May be true for a front ending role which necessitates pleasing manners and pleasant conversational skills from a charming face, but looks not critical for technical work which requires more of technical and less of interpersonal skills. Good looking women finding it difficult could be only primarily due to skills related issues.

Good looking womans get job for some industries such as marketing of brands, advertisements, film industries, and several fields where beauty and style with presentation has priority for job. And where as for heavy/construction industries required deligent and hard working person required where beauty is not required there required stamina to deal stress, conflict and other basic skills and knowledge of the job required not the beauty. And who will give salaries without his/her performance? So beauty with other skills always has more career growth for females as Most of the men were inclined towards femine for there softness, and beauty. We have history in India that most of the kingdom ruin over the beauty of females. Most of the battles were fought for the beauty so surely where beauty is there surely oppertunity is there.

I guess its just the opposite.Good looking women are able to impress faster. If you don't have it in you to win over your interviewers by your knowledge, then you can do it with your looks.Appearing very smart, polished, confident and stylish can surely land you a job.

No, Actually attractive women get jobs very easily than other candidates. They would impress the interviewers at first sight. However even though they are so attractive & impressive at first sight, they should have other potential knowledge & speaking skills to get jobs. But they would have a slight advantage over other candidates where they will get job even if they are not so good, but not very bad, in interview performance. Sometimes if they are very bad in interview, still they will get jobs. But it completely depends on the interviewers. What happened in US was just a rare case & it would not repeat very often. The lady got sacked in CITI Bank was not because of her mistake. Firstly it was the Bank who made mistake by not making dress code of conduct very strict. Secondly it was the employees who violated the company's code of conduct where employees should not indulge in any activities which abuses other persons. But the lady who got sacked became the scape goat finally.
