No dogs will be eating the homework of New York students anytime soon. On Tuesday, New York became the fifth state to adopt Google Apps in its public schools, joining Oregon, Colorado, Iowa, and Maryland as the newest school system to start using these tools in its K-12 classrooms.

Google Apps for Education programme, which includes Gmail, Docs, Sites, and calendar which will be a powerful tool for teacher and students across the country.  But, dont you think too much of technology is being used in schools lately. Where are the old school formats gone... Will too much of technology hamper a students performance in Schools?? share your views on this.....

Yes IT will help students to learn quickly and more efficiently. However hand writing skills and basic meths skills without using computer or the calculator should remain as part of the education system. IT will help faster and more effective communication between student-teacher and parent and otherwise poor and average students to effectively compete with bright students thus eliminating the need for grading, ranking etc and driving the students to despair in the long run.

I dont think it will hamper their performance, I mean that is how schools are evolving lately, the Guru-shishya concept of olden days is good, but technology gives a wider reach and with proper infrastructure education can  be provided to larger population with all these tools, and today's students are facing a completely different landscape; they're expected to enter the workplace fully literate in technology, with strong communication and collaboration skills that will allow them to succeed in a connected and global environment, so these technological inputs at school level will give them better opportunities in future.
