Google Editions, the Internet giant’s book store business promised for last summer, is set to launch before the end of 2010, the Wall Street Journal reports. Google Editions will have a significantly different sales model from most competitors, such as Amazon’s Kindle store or Apple’s iBookStore.

This launch by google will create a sensation.  Google is coming out with option for the user's that they can buy it from google or any other bookstore so they can tie them to their google account. Which will enable them to read the books anywhere and on any device. This is a good step  taken by google.

Google really does not need to prove itself as a hub for innovative solutions..but there are others in the markets strategising their moves to thwart any attempts to take over their market share...am sure you know who am meaning...the legendry amazon with its amazon-like book store...but giants like google cannot be a push-over when they intrude into your territory...so what can you do in such situations??...nothing much but wait and watch 2 giants crossing swords to fight to the finish....a good corporate action movie that is good for customers like you and me...so let the action start...

This could prove to be some competition for the other companies out there. Only time will tell if this will be a bad or good move on Google’s part. Google will really have to position itself to stand out from the crowd. Google might or might not take over the market but its presence will be known. The other companies might fight back to stay in the spotlight.

This will have some effect but it really depends on how innovative Google will become with this new venture.

Google has proved again that it is really passionate in what ever it does ,and if it means to go beyond the "company" expertise it will . After years of silly non co-operation by publishers to make their content online on Google books , this move was expected . And it comes at the perfect timing .Chrome OS is about to be released and the thing about netbooks is that thye are meant for content consumption . I am sure as the legacy of Google ,even this will be OPEN .Perhaps even the access to Amazon bookstore etc.. will be possible .For all that we know Google surely does not want this venture to print books and sell and make profit but rather bring the books ,novels magazines etc.. online adding rich interactivity and surely the power of search. Rarely do we find companies pursue their dreams passionately .Maybe it wouldn't be bad after to all for Google to be 1/3 of my brain :)

Kindle (Amazon's ebook reader) will feel the heat as Google already have android platform in the market and they aggressively promote the book store through applications in their app store...

Yes. I agree to the fact that Google Book store is bound to affect the top market players like Amazon. Another reason for players like Amazon to worry is that Google is one of the most trusted brand in the world. Trust on a brand in turn means more business.

We cannot say that Google will take over the market . As already the market exist with the big player's like the Apple ibookstore & Amazon kindle store.Its to late that google has come up with this Idea. Hope they do better.
