Google's Nexus One, which is on sale in select countries of the world, will be launched in India very soon. But there is a problem. As Google is launching a scaled down nexus one and not the original which was launched in US earlier. But you can get a full fleged phone from US.

Google nexus one

Coming back to the scaled down Nexus One, it will be slimmer than the current Nexus One (which is already quite thin) and will pack in lesser features when compared with its real version which was launched in US. The reduction of features will also mean a cut in the prices. This Nexus One is likely to be priced very less as compared to the original.

So what do you think guys, will people go for this less featured Google nexus-one?

oogle's Nexus One, which is on sale in select countries of the world, might be launched in India too in the near future. But there is a problem. This is the version of Google Nexus One that will eventually land here officially. That said, you could always import one should you prefer the "original" Nexus One. There are people who will go for it. No matter it has less features but its new in the market and India is full with people who will go for anything latest in the market. On the top of that this one has a brandname of GOOGLE which shows its quality. There will be people to create its market since it will also be cheaper.

This Nexus One would be a completely new phone or just a stripped down barebones version of the original with a few chips missing. This is just like "poor man's Nexus One". I don't think it will get a fair response in the market

Google has always been successful in creating hypes. It may gain initial hype among the technocrats and the early adaptors of technology. The trimmed down version would be discouraging but yes it will definitely gain attraction of crowd given with the features, price and brand name  "Google".

Lets have a brief look at the history.

This didnt happen wih when android was first realesed with HTC ,the net went crazy and called HTC's move a big failure ,Android was critized was lack of killer apps and the only benchmark was iphone. Now things have changed .

this didn't happen till android 2.1 came ,till Google acquired admob , till Google's voice based tech was mature enough to power voice searches , enable google navigation and enter the GPS market etc .. ITs only when 1GHz processor come ,andoird 2.1 came , and this signals that their is something cooking up with this line of phones .

Perhaps it might become a free phone with or without google voice and will give you ads in return specific to your search history which might be free .Now how coool will this be given the fact that we still have to pay atleast 1ps /sec ??

or atleast it will increase the net penetration and revenue for Google for the number of searches people will do :)

coming to the question, People will go for it either beacuse of the price ( or ignorance )and the brand name Google  and the ones who love and believe in android but can't afford the huge prices especially in  india .These two categories will choose this phone .

There already are Cool alternatives in the market from samsung.

Also in that category, apple already rules the roost.

If the original came in, there might have been some better prospects.

with a subdued version coming in, people here are more than happy looking for better options.

Stripped down version of Nexus though priced on the lower band would face steep compitition from lower priced feature rich mobiles like micromax,Boss,Simoco,Intex brands and its doubtful that it could make a mark of its own.

A full functional Nexus with right kind of pricing and promotion would have yielded better results.

Status conscious people will not go for it, and also it lacks in utilities in compare of other. Only name isn't enough, i think!
